Compare any two graphics cards:
GeForce GTX 550 Ti vs Radeon HD 6790
IntroThe GeForce GTX 550 Ti comes with a clock frequency of 900 MHz and a GDDR5 memory speed of 1026 MHz. It also uses a 192-bit memory bus, and uses a 40 nm design. It features 192 SPUs, 32 Texture Address Units, and 24 ROPs.Compare all of that to the Radeon HD 6790, which features GPU clock speed of 840 MHz, and 1024 MB of GDDR5 memory set to run at 1050 MHz through a 256-bit bus. It also features 800 SPUs, 40 Texture Address Units, and 16 Raster Operation Units.

3DMark Fire Strike Graphics Score
Power Usage and Theoretical BenchmarksPower Consumption (Max TDP)
Memory BandwidthIn theory, the Radeon HD 6790 should be 36% faster than the GeForce GTX 550 Ti in general, due to its greater data rate. (explain)
Texel RateThe Radeon HD 6790 is a little bit (approximately 17%) faster with regards to anisotropic filtering than the GeForce GTX 550 Ti. (explain)
Pixel RateThe GeForce GTX 550 Ti will be much (approximately 61%) better at anti-aliasing than the Radeon HD 6790, and able to handle higher screen resolutions without slowing down too much. (explain)
Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit. Price Comparison

Memory Bandwidth: Memory bandwidth is the max amount of information (counted in megabytes per second) that can be moved over the external memory interface within a second. The number is worked out by multiplying the card's interface width by its memory clock speed. If the card has DDR RAM, the result should be multiplied by 2 once again. If DDR5, multiply by ANOTHER 2x. The higher the bandwidth is, the faster the card will be in general. It especially helps with AA, High Dynamic Range and high resolutions. Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum number of texture map elements (texels) that can be applied per second. This number is worked out by multiplying the total number of texture units of the card by the core clock speed of the chip. The better this number, the better the card will be at handling texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels processed in a second. Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the most pixels that the graphics chip could possibly record to the local memory in one second - measured in millions of pixels per second. Pixel rate is calculated by multiplying the number of ROPs by the the core clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - sometimes also referred to as Render Output Units) are responsible for filling the screen with pixels (the image). The actual pixel output rate is also dependant on many other factors, especially the memory bandwidth - the lower the memory bandwidth is, the lower the potential to get to the maximum fill rate.
