Compare any two graphics cards:
GeForce GTX 470 vs GeForce GTX 560 Ti
IntroThe GeForce GTX 470 features a core clock speed of 607 MHz and a GDDR5 memory speed of 837 MHz. It also features a 320-bit memory bus, and uses a 40 nm design. It features 448 SPUs, 56 Texture Address Units, and 40 Raster Operation Units.Compare all that to the GeForce GTX 560 Ti, which uses a 40 nm design. nVidia has clocked the core speed at 822 MHz. The GDDR5 RAM runs at a speed of 1002 MHz on this particular model. It features 384 SPUs as well as 64 TAUs and 32 ROPs.

BenchmarksThese are real-world performance benchmarks that were submitted by Hardware Compare users. The scores seen here are the average of all benchmarks submitted for each respective test and hardware.
3DMark Fire Strike Graphics Score
Power Usage and Theoretical BenchmarksPower Consumption (Max TDP)
Memory BandwidthTheoretically speaking, the GeForce GTX 470 should be a small bit faster than the GeForce GTX 560 Ti in general. (explain)
Texel RateThe GeForce GTX 560 Ti will be quite a bit (about 55%) faster with regards to texture filtering than the GeForce GTX 470. (explain)
Pixel RateIf using a high resolution is important to you, then the GeForce GTX 560 Ti is a better choice, but not by far. (explain)
Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit. Price Comparison

Memory Bandwidth: Bandwidth is the maximum amount of data (in units of MB per second) that can be transferred past the external memory interface within a second. It's calculated by multiplying the bus width by its memory clock speed. In the case of DDR memory, it must be multiplied by 2 once again. If DDR5, multiply by 4 instead. The higher the memory bandwidth, the faster the card will be in general. It especially helps with AA, High Dynamic Range and higher screen resolutions. Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum amount of texture map elements (texels) that can be applied per second. This number is calculated by multiplying the total number of texture units of the card by the core speed of the chip. The better the texel rate, the better the video card will be at handling texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels processed per second. Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the maximum number of pixels that the graphics chip could possibly write to its local memory in one second - measured in millions of pixels per second. The figure is calculated by multiplying the amount of ROPs by the clock speed of the card. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - also sometimes called Render Output Units) are responsible for drawing the pixels (image) on the screen. The actual pixel fill rate is also dependant on lots of other factors, especially the memory bandwidth of the card - the lower the bandwidth is, the lower the ability to get to the maximum fill rate.

10 Responses to “GeForce GTX 470 vs GeForce GTX 560 Ti”The 560 Ti is clearly better in this comparison, but personally I'd go for a HD 6870, just because Radeons are better overall. 🙂
