Radeon RX 570 vs Radeon RX 6700 XT

Intro

The Radeon RX 570 comes with clock speeds of 1168 MHz on the GPU, and 1750 MHz on the 4096 MB of GDDR5 memory. It features 2048 SPUs as well as 128 TAUs and 32 Rasterization Operator Units.

Compare all of that to the Radeon RX 6700 XT, which comes with core clock speeds of 2321 MHz on the GPU, and 2000 MHz on the (Unknown) MB of GDDR6 RAM. It features 2560 SPUs along with 160 Texture Address Units and 64 ROPs.

Power Usage and Theoretical Benchmarks

Power Consumption (Max TDP)

Radeon RX 570 150 Watts
Radeon RX 6700 XT 230 Watts
Difference: 80 Watts (53%)

Memory Bandwidth

Theoretically speaking, the Radeon RX 6700 XT should be much faster than the Radeon RX 570 in general. (explain)

Radeon RX 6700 XT 393216 MB/sec
Radeon RX 570 229376 MB/sec
Difference: 163840 (71%)

Texel Rate

The Radeon RX 6700 XT will be much (more or less 148%) more effective at anisotropic filtering than the Radeon RX 570. (explain)

Radeon RX 6700 XT 371360 Mtexels/sec
Radeon RX 570 149504 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 221856 (148%)

Pixel Rate

If using a high screen resolution is important to you, then the Radeon RX 6700 XT is a better choice, by far. (explain)

Radeon RX 6700 XT 148544 Mpixels/sec
Radeon RX 570 37376 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 111168 (297%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Memory bandwidth is the largest amount of information (counted in megabytes per second) that can be transferred past the external memory interface within a second. The number is calculated by multiplying the bus width by its memory speed. In the case of DDR type RAM, it should be multiplied by 2 once again. If DDR5, multiply by ANOTHER 2x. The higher the memory bandwidth, the faster the card will be in general. It especially helps with AA, HDR and higher screen resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum texture map elements (texels) that are processed in one second. This figure is calculated by multiplying the total amount of texture units by the core speed of the chip. The better this number, the better the video card will be at texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels in a second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the most pixels the graphics card could possibly record to its local memory in one second - measured in millions of pixels per second. The figure is worked out by multiplying the amount of ROPs by the the core clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - also called Render Output Units) are responsible for outputting the pixels (image) to the screen. The actual pixel rate is also dependant on many other factors, most notably the memory bandwidth - the lower the bandwidth is, the lower the potential to get to the maximum fill rate.
