GeForce GTX 1050 3GB vs Radeon RX 6700 XT

Intro

The GeForce GTX 1050 3GB has a GPU core clock speed of 1392 MHz, and the 3072 MB of GDDR5 memory is set to run at 1750 MHz through a 96-bit bus. It also is comprised of 768 SPUs, 48 TAUs, and 24 Raster Operation Units.

Compare those specifications to the Radeon RX 6700 XT, which comes with core speeds of 2321 MHz on the GPU, and 2000 MHz on the (Unknown) MB of GDDR6 RAM. It features 2560 SPUs along with 160 TAUs and 64 Rasterization Operator Units.

Memory Bandwidth

Theoretically, the Radeon RX 6700 XT should be quite a bit faster than the GeForce GTX 1050 3GB overall. (explain)

Radeon RX 6700 XT 393216 MB/sec
GeForce GTX 1050 3GB 86016 MB/sec
Difference: 307200 (357%)

Texel Rate

The Radeon RX 6700 XT is a lot (approximately 456%) more effective at texture filtering than the GeForce GTX 1050 3GB. (explain)

Radeon RX 6700 XT 371360 Mtexels/sec
GeForce GTX 1050 3GB 66816 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 304544 (456%)

Pixel Rate

If using a high screen resolution is important to you, then the Radeon RX 6700 XT is the winner, by a large margin. (explain)

Radeon RX 6700 XT 148544 Mpixels/sec
GeForce GTX 1050 3GB 33408 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 115136 (345%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Bandwidth is the max amount of information (measured in MB per second) that can be transferred over the external memory interface in one second. It is worked out by multiplying the card's interface width by the speed of its memory. If it uses DDR type memory, the result should be multiplied by 2 once again. If it uses DDR5, multiply by 4 instead. The better the bandwidth is, the faster the card will be in general. It especially helps with AA, HDR and high resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum texture map elements (texels) that are processed in one second. This is calculated by multiplying the total amount of texture units by the core clock speed of the chip. The higher the texel rate, the better the graphics card will be at handling texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels in a second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the maximum amount of pixels the video card could possibly record to its local memory per second - measured in millions of pixels per second. The figure is worked out by multiplying the number of ROPs by the the core clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - also sometimes called Render Output Units) are responsible for outputting the pixels (image) to the screen. The actual pixel output rate also depends on quite a few other factors, especially the memory bandwidth of the card - the lower the memory bandwidth is, the lower the potential to reach the maximum fill rate.
