GeForce 9500 GT 1GB GDDR3 vs Nvidia Titan Xp

Intro

The GeForce 9500 GT 1GB GDDR3 comes with a core clock frequency of 550 MHz and a GDDR3 memory speed of 800 MHz. It also features a 128-bit bus, and makes use of a 55 nm design. It is made up of 32 SPUs, 16 Texture Address Units, and 8 ROPs.

Compare that to the Nvidia Titan Xp, which comes with core speeds of 1582 MHz on the GPU, and 1426 MHz on the 12288 MB of GDDR5X RAM. It features 3840 SPUs along with 240 TAUs and 96 Rasterization Operator Units.

Nvidia Titan Xp 560845 MB/sec
GeForce 9500 GT 1GB GDDR3 25600 MB/sec
Difference: 535245 (2091%)

Texel Rate

The Nvidia Titan Xp is a lot (about 4215%) faster with regards to AF than the GeForce 9500 GT 1GB GDDR3. (explain)

Nvidia Titan Xp 379680 Mtexels/sec
GeForce 9500 GT 1GB GDDR3 8800 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 370880 (4215%)

Pixel Rate

If using a high resolution is important to you, then the Nvidia Titan Xp is superior to the GeForce 9500 GT 1GB GDDR3, by far. (explain)

Nvidia Titan Xp 151872 Mpixels/sec
GeForce 9500 GT 1GB GDDR3 4400 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 147472 (3352%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Bandwidth is the maximum amount of data (counted in megabytes per second) that can be transferred over the external memory interface within a second. It's calculated by multiplying the interface width by its memory speed. In the case of DDR RAM, the result should be multiplied by 2 once again. If it uses DDR5, multiply by 4 instead. The higher the bandwidth is, the better the card will be in general. It especially helps with AA, HDR and high resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum number of texture map elements (texels) that are applied per second. This number is worked out by multiplying the total texture units by the core speed of the chip. The higher this number, the better the card will be at texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels in one second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the maximum amount of pixels the video card can possibly write to its local memory in a second - measured in millions of pixels per second. Pixel rate is worked out by multiplying the number of colour ROPs by the clock speed of the card. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - also sometimes called Render Output Units) are responsible for drawing the pixels (image) on the screen. The actual pixel rate is also dependant on quite a few other factors, especially the memory bandwidth - the lower the memory bandwidth is, the lower the ability to reach the maximum fill rate.
