Memory Bandwidth

Performance-wise, the Radeon HD 7850 should in theory be quite a bit superior to the GeForce GT 240 GDDR5 overall. (explain)

Radeon HD 7850 153600 MB/sec
GeForce GT 240 GDDR5 54400 MB/sec
Difference: 99200 (182%)

Texel Rate

The Radeon HD 7850 will be quite a bit (approximately 213%) more effective at texture filtering than the GeForce GT 240 GDDR5. (explain)

Radeon HD 7850 55040 Mtexels/sec
GeForce GT 240 GDDR5 17600 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 37440 (213%)

Pixel Rate

The Radeon HD 7850 will be much (approximately 525%) faster with regards to AA than the GeForce GT 240 GDDR5, and able to handle higher screen resolutions without slowing down too much. (explain)

Radeon HD 7850 27520 Mpixels/sec
GeForce GT 240 GDDR5 4400 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 23120 (525%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Bandwidth is the max amount of data (measured in megabytes per second) that can be transferred over the external memory interface within a second. The number is worked out by multiplying the card's bus width by its memory speed. If it uses DDR memory, the result should be multiplied by 2 once again. If DDR5, multiply by ANOTHER 2x. The better the card's memory bandwidth, the better the card will be in general. It especially helps with AA, HDR and high resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum amount of texture map elements (texels) that are applied in one second. This figure is worked out by multiplying the total texture units by the core speed of the chip. The higher this number, the better the graphics card will be at handling texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels processed in one second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the most pixels the graphics card could possibly record to its local memory per second - measured in millions of pixels per second. Pixel rate is calculated by multiplying the number of ROPs by the the core speed of the card. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - also sometimes called Render Output Units) are responsible for drawing the pixels (image) on the screen. The actual pixel rate also depends on lots of other factors, most notably the memory bandwidth of the card - the lower the memory bandwidth is, the lower the ability to get to the max fill rate.
