GeForce GTX 750 Ti vs GeForce RTX 4070 Ti

Intro

The GeForce GTX 750 Ti comes with a clock speed of 1020 MHz and a GDDR5 memory speed of 1350 MHz. It also uses a 128-bit bus, and makes use of a 28 nm design. It is made up of 640 SPUs, 40 Texture Address Units, and 16 Raster Operation Units.

Compare all of that to the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti, which features GPU core speed of 2310 MHz, and 12288 MB of GDDR6X RAM set to run at 1313 MHz through a 192-bit bus. It also is made up of 7680 Stream Processors, 240 TAUs, and 80 ROPs.

Power Usage and Theoretical Benchmarks

Power Consumption (Max TDP)

GeForce GTX 750 Ti 60 Watts
GeForce RTX 4070 Ti 285 Watts
Difference: 225 Watts (375%)

Memory Bandwidth

Performance-wise, the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti should in theory be a lot better than the GeForce GTX 750 Ti overall. (explain)

GeForce RTX 4070 Ti 516096 MB/sec
GeForce GTX 750 Ti 86400 MB/sec
Difference: 429696 (497%)

Texel Rate

The GeForce RTX 4070 Ti should be quite a bit (more or less 1259%) faster with regards to AF than the GeForce GTX 750 Ti. (explain)

GeForce RTX 4070 Ti 554400 Mtexels/sec
GeForce GTX 750 Ti 40800 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 513600 (1259%)

Pixel Rate

If running with high levels of AA is important to you, then the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti is the winner, by far. (explain)

GeForce RTX 4070 Ti 184800 Mpixels/sec
GeForce GTX 750 Ti 16320 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 168480 (1032%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Bandwidth is the max amount of data (counted in MB per second) that can be moved across the external memory interface within a second. It is worked out by multiplying the card's interface width by the speed of its memory. If the card has DDR type RAM, the result should be multiplied by 2 again. If it uses DDR5, multiply by 4 instead. The higher the memory bandwidth, the faster the card will be in general. It especially helps with anti-aliasing, HDR and high resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum amount of texture map elements (texels) that can be applied per second. This is worked out by multiplying the total texture units of the card by the core clock speed of the chip. The higher this number, the better the graphics card will be at handling texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels processed per second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the maximum number of pixels that the graphics card could possibly record to the local memory in one second - measured in millions of pixels per second. The number is calculated by multiplying the number of ROPs by the the card's clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - sometimes also referred to as Render Output Units) are responsible for drawing the pixels (image) on the screen. The actual pixel fill rate also depends on many other factors, especially the memory bandwidth of the card - the lower the memory bandwidth is, the lower the ability to reach the maximum fill rate.
