Radeon HD 6570 (OEM) 2GB vs Radeon RX 7900 XT

Intro

The Radeon HD 6570 (OEM) 2GB features a GPU core clock speed of 650 MHz, and the 1024 MB of GDDR5 RAM runs at 1000 MHz through a 128-bit bus. It also features 480 SPUs, 24 TAUs, and 8 ROPs.

Compare those specs to the Radeon RX 7900 XT, which features a clock frequency of 1500 MHz and a GDDR6 memory frequency of 2500 MHz. It also uses a 320-bit memory bus, and makes use of a 5 nm design. It features 5376 SPUs, 336 TAUs, and 192 ROPs.

Power Usage and Theoretical Benchmarks

Power Consumption (Max TDP)

Radeon HD 6570 (OEM) 2GB 50 Watts
Radeon RX 7900 XT 300 Watts
Difference: 250 Watts (500%)

Memory Bandwidth

In theory, the Radeon RX 7900 XT is 1180% faster than the Radeon HD 6570 (OEM) 2GB overall, due to its higher bandwidth. (explain)

Radeon RX 7900 XT 819200 MB/sec
Radeon HD 6570 (OEM) 2GB 64000 MB/sec
Difference: 755200 (1180%)

Texel Rate

The Radeon RX 7900 XT should be much (more or less 3131%) better at texture filtering than the Radeon HD 6570 (OEM) 2GB. (explain)

Radeon RX 7900 XT 504000 Mtexels/sec
Radeon HD 6570 (OEM) 2GB 15600 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 488400 (3131%)

Pixel Rate

If running with a high screen resolution is important to you, then the Radeon RX 7900 XT is the winner, and very much so. (explain)

Radeon RX 7900 XT 288000 Mpixels/sec
Radeon HD 6570 (OEM) 2GB 5200 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 282800 (5438%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Memory bandwidth is the largest amount of data (counted in MB per second) that can be transferred over the external memory interface in a second. The number is calculated by multiplying the card's bus width by its memory speed. If it uses DDR RAM, it must be multiplied by 2 again. If DDR5, multiply by ANOTHER 2x. The higher the bandwidth is, the better the card will be in general. It especially helps with anti-aliasing, High Dynamic Range and high resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum number of texture map elements (texels) that are processed per second. This number is calculated by multiplying the total number of texture units by the core clock speed of the chip. The better the texel rate, the better the card will be at handling texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels processed in one second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the maximum number of pixels that the graphics card can possibly write to its local memory in a second - measured in millions of pixels per second. The number is calculated by multiplying the amount of colour ROPs by the the card's clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - also called Render Output Units) are responsible for outputting the pixels (image) to the screen. The actual pixel rate also depends on quite a few other factors, most notably the memory bandwidth - the lower the memory bandwidth is, the lower the potential to get to the maximum fill rate.
