Radeon RX 6650 XT vs Radeon RX 6800

Intro

The Radeon RX 6650 XT features a GPU core speed of 2055 MHz, and the 8192 MB of GDDR6 memory is set to run at 2190 MHz through a 128-bit bus. It also is comprised of 2048 Stream Processors, 128 TAUs, and 64 ROPs.

Compare that to the Radeon RX 6800, which has core clock speeds of 1700 MHz on the GPU, and 2000 MHz on the 16384 MB of GDDR6 RAM. It features 3840 SPUs along with 240 TAUs and 96 ROPs.

Radeon RX 6650 XT 176 Watts
Radeon RX 6800 250 Watts
Difference: 74 Watts (42%)

Memory Bandwidth

Theoretically, the Radeon RX 6800 should be much faster than the Radeon RX 6650 XT overall. (explain)

Radeon RX 6800 524288 MB/sec
Radeon RX 6650 XT 287072 MB/sec
Difference: 237216 (83%)

Texel Rate

The Radeon RX 6800 will be a lot (more or less 55%) faster with regards to AF than the Radeon RX 6650 XT. (explain)

Radeon RX 6800 408000 Mtexels/sec
Radeon RX 6650 XT 263040 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 144960 (55%)

Pixel Rate

If using high levels of AA is important to you, then the Radeon RX 6800 is the winner, by a large margin. (explain)

Radeon RX 6800 163200 Mpixels/sec
Radeon RX 6650 XT 131520 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 31680 (24%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Memory bandwidth is the largest amount of information (measured in MB per second) that can be transferred across the external memory interface in a second. It is worked out by multiplying the card's interface width by the speed of its memory. If it uses DDR memory, it should be multiplied by 2 again. If it uses DDR5, multiply by 4 instead. The higher the bandwidth is, the faster the card will be in general. It especially helps with AA, High Dynamic Range and higher screen resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum texture map elements (texels) that are processed in one second. This figure is calculated by multiplying the total amount of texture units of the card by the core speed of the chip. The better this number, the better the card will be at texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels in a second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the most pixels the graphics card can possibly write to the local memory per second - measured in millions of pixels per second. Pixel rate is worked out by multiplying the number of Raster Operations Pipelines by the clock speed of the card. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - sometimes also referred to as Render Output Units) are responsible for filling the screen with pixels (the image). The actual pixel output rate also depends on many other factors, especially the memory bandwidth - the lower the memory bandwidth is, the lower the potential to get to the max fill rate.
