Geforce GTX 760 vs Radeon RX 6500 XT

Intro

The Geforce GTX 760 uses a 28 nm design. nVidia has set the core frequency at 980 MHz. The GDDR5 memory runs at a speed of 1502 MHz on this model. It features 1152 SPUs along with 96 Texture Address Units and 32 ROPs.

Compare that to the Radeon RX 6500 XT, which has clock speeds of 2200 MHz on the GPU, and 2250 MHz on the 4096 MB of GDDR6 RAM. It features 1024 SPUs as well as 64 TAUs and 32 Rasterization Operator Units.

Radeon RX 6500 XT 107 Watts
Geforce GTX 760 170 Watts
Difference: 63 Watts (59%)

Memory Bandwidth

In theory, the Geforce GTX 760 is 30% quicker than the Radeon RX 6500 XT in general, because of its greater bandwidth. (explain)

Geforce GTX 760 192256 MB/sec
Radeon RX 6500 XT 147456 MB/sec
Difference: 44800 (30%)

Texel Rate

The Radeon RX 6500 XT should be quite a bit (more or less 50%) more effective at texture filtering than the Geforce GTX 760. (explain)

Radeon RX 6500 XT 140800 Mtexels/sec
Geforce GTX 760 94080 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 46720 (50%)

Pixel Rate

The Radeon RX 6500 XT will be much (about 124%) faster with regards to full screen anti-aliasing than the Geforce GTX 760, and capable of handling higher screen resolutions more effectively. (explain)

Radeon RX 6500 XT 70400 Mpixels/sec
Geforce GTX 760 31360 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 39040 (124%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Bandwidth is the max amount of information (measured in MB per second) that can be transferred past the external memory interface in one second. It's worked out by multiplying the interface width by the speed of its memory. If the card has DDR memory, it should be multiplied by 2 once again. If it uses DDR5, multiply by 4 instead. The higher the bandwidth is, the faster the card will be in general. It especially helps with AA, High Dynamic Range and high resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum amount of texture map elements (texels) that are applied in one second. This is worked out by multiplying the total amount of texture units of the card by the core speed of the chip. The higher this number, the better the graphics card will be at texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels processed per second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the most pixels that the graphics card can possibly record to the local memory in a second - measured in millions of pixels per second. The figure is worked out by multiplying the amount of Raster Operations Pipelines by the the card's clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - aka Render Output Units) are responsible for outputting the pixels (image) to the screen. The actual pixel rate also depends on lots of other factors, especially the memory bandwidth - the lower the memory bandwidth is, the lower the ability to get to the maximum fill rate.
