GeForce 9600 GSO 512MB vs GeForce RTX 3080 Ti

Intro

The GeForce 9600 GSO 512MB features a GPU core clock speed of 650 MHz, and the 512 MB of GDDR3 RAM is set to run at 900 MHz through a 256-bit bus. It also is comprised of 96 Stream Processors, 48 TAUs, and 16 Raster Operation Units.

Compare that to the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti, which has clock speeds of 1365 MHz on the GPU, and 1188 MHz on the 12288 MB of GDDR6X RAM. It features 10240 SPUs as well as 320 Texture Address Units and 112 Rasterization Operator Units.

GeForce 9600 GSO 512MB 90 Watts
GeForce RTX 3080 Ti 350 Watts
Difference: 260 Watts (289%)

Memory Bandwidth

The GeForce RTX 3080 Ti should in theory perform a lot faster than the GeForce 9600 GSO 512MB overall. (explain)

GeForce RTX 3080 Ti 934297 MB/sec
GeForce 9600 GSO 512MB 57600 MB/sec
Difference: 876697 (1522%)

Texel Rate

The GeForce RTX 3080 Ti will be quite a bit (more or less 1300%) better at AF than the GeForce 9600 GSO 512MB. (explain)

GeForce RTX 3080 Ti 436800 Mtexels/sec
GeForce 9600 GSO 512MB 31200 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 405600 (1300%)

Pixel Rate

If using a high resolution is important to you, then the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti is superior to the GeForce 9600 GSO 512MB, by far. (explain)

GeForce RTX 3080 Ti 152880 Mpixels/sec
GeForce 9600 GSO 512MB 10400 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 142480 (1370%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Memory bandwidth is the maximum amount of data (counted in MB per second) that can be transferred past the external memory interface in one second. The number is worked out by multiplying the bus width by its memory speed. In the case of DDR memory, the result should be multiplied by 2 once again. If it uses DDR5, multiply by ANOTHER 2x. The better the memory bandwidth, the better the card will be in general. It especially helps with anti-aliasing, HDR and high resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum texture map elements (texels) that are applied in one second. This figure is worked out by multiplying the total amount of texture units of the card by the core clock speed of the chip. The higher the texel rate, the better the graphics card will be at texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels applied in a second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the maximum amount of pixels that the graphics card could possibly write to the local memory in a second - measured in millions of pixels per second. The figure is calculated by multiplying the number of colour ROPs by the the core clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - also called Render Output Units) are responsible for outputting the pixels (image) to the screen. The actual pixel fill rate is also dependant on many other factors, most notably the memory bandwidth of the card - the lower the memory bandwidth is, the lower the ability to reach the max fill rate.
