GeForce RTX 3080 Ti vs Radeon HD 3650

Intro

The GeForce RTX 3080 Ti uses a 8 nm design. nVidia has clocked the core frequency at 1365 MHz. The GDDR6X memory runs at a speed of 1188 MHz on this specific card. It features 10240 SPUs as well as 320 TAUs and 112 ROPs.

Compare that to the Radeon HD 3650, which uses a 55 nm design. AMD has clocked the core speed at 725 MHz. The GDDR4 RAM is set to run at a speed of 800 MHz on this card. It features 120(24x5) SPUs along with 8 Texture Address Units and 4 ROPs.

Power Usage and Theoretical Benchmarks

Power Consumption (Max TDP)

Radeon HD 3650 78 Watts
GeForce RTX 3080 Ti 350 Watts
Difference: 272 Watts (349%)

Memory Bandwidth

In theory, the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti is 3550% faster than the Radeon HD 3650 overall, because of its higher bandwidth. (explain)

GeForce RTX 3080 Ti 934297 MB/sec
Radeon HD 3650 25600 MB/sec
Difference: 908697 (3550%)

Texel Rate

The GeForce RTX 3080 Ti should be a lot (more or less 7431%) faster with regards to anisotropic filtering than the Radeon HD 3650. (explain)

GeForce RTX 3080 Ti 436800 Mtexels/sec
Radeon HD 3650 5800 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 431000 (7431%)

Pixel Rate

If using a high screen resolution is important to you, then the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti is superior to the Radeon HD 3650, and very much so. (explain)

GeForce RTX 3080 Ti 152880 Mpixels/sec
Radeon HD 3650 2900 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 149980 (5172%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Memory bandwidth is the max amount of data (measured in megabytes per second) that can be transported over the external memory interface in one second. The number is calculated by multiplying the card's bus width by its memory clock speed. If it uses DDR RAM, it should be multiplied by 2 once again. If it uses DDR5, multiply by ANOTHER 2x. The higher the bandwidth is, the faster the card will be in general. It especially helps with anti-aliasing, HDR and higher screen resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum number of texture map elements (texels) that are processed in one second. This is calculated by multiplying the total amount of texture units by the core speed of the chip. The higher the texel rate, the better the graphics card will be at texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels applied in a second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the maximum amount of pixels the graphics card can possibly write to its local memory per second - measured in millions of pixels per second. The number is calculated by multiplying the number of ROPs by the the core speed of the card. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - sometimes also referred to as Render Output Units) are responsible for outputting the pixels (image) to the screen. The actual pixel rate also depends on lots of other factors, especially the memory bandwidth of the card - the lower the bandwidth is, the lower the ability to get to the maximum fill rate.
