Radeon HD 6570 (OEM) 2GB vs Radeon RX 5600

Intro

The Radeon HD 6570 (OEM) 2GB comes with a core clock speed of 650 MHz and a GDDR5 memory frequency of 1000 MHz. It also makes use of a 128-bit bus, and makes use of a 40 nm design. It is comprised of 480 SPUs, 24 TAUs, and 8 Raster Operation Units.

Compare those specifications to the Radeon RX 5600, which has GPU clock speed of 1375 MHz, and 6144 MB of GDDR6 RAM set to run at 1500 MHz through a 192-bit bus. It also features 2048 SPUs, 128 TAUs, and 64 ROPs.

Power Usage and Theoretical Benchmarks

Power Consumption (Max TDP)

Radeon HD 6570 (OEM) 2GB 50 Watts
Radeon RX 5600 150 Watts
Difference: 100 Watts (200%)

Memory Bandwidth

The Radeon RX 5600 should in theory perform quite a bit faster than the Radeon HD 6570 (OEM) 2GB overall. (explain)

Radeon RX 5600 294912 MB/sec
Radeon HD 6570 (OEM) 2GB 64000 MB/sec
Difference: 230912 (361%)

Texel Rate

The Radeon RX 5600 is much (approximately 1028%) better at AF than the Radeon HD 6570 (OEM) 2GB. (explain)

Radeon RX 5600 176000 Mtexels/sec
Radeon HD 6570 (OEM) 2GB 15600 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 160400 (1028%)

Pixel Rate

If using a high resolution is important to you, then the Radeon RX 5600 is a better choice, and very much so. (explain)

Radeon RX 5600 88000 Mpixels/sec
Radeon HD 6570 (OEM) 2GB 5200 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 82800 (1592%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Bandwidth is the maximum amount of information (measured in MB per second) that can be transported past the external memory interface within a second. It is worked out by multiplying the card's bus width by its memory speed. In the case of DDR RAM, the result should be multiplied by 2 again. If it uses DDR5, multiply by ANOTHER 2x. The higher the card's memory bandwidth, the better the card will be in general. It especially helps with AA, HDR and high resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum texture map elements (texels) that are applied in one second. This figure is calculated by multiplying the total texture units of the card by the core clock speed of the chip. The better the texel rate, the better the card will be at texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels processed in a second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the maximum amount of pixels that the graphics chip could possibly record to its local memory in a second - measured in millions of pixels per second. The figure is worked out by multiplying the number of Render Output Units by the the core clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - aka Render Output Units) are responsible for outputting the pixels (image) to the screen. The actual pixel output rate also depends on many other factors, especially the memory bandwidth of the card - the lower the bandwidth is, the lower the ability to reach the max fill rate.
