GeForce RTX 2070 Super vs Geforce GTX 760

Intro

The GeForce RTX 2070 Super comes with a GPU core speed of 1605 MHz, and the 8192 MB of GDDR6 memory is set to run at 1750 MHz through a 256-bit bus. It also is made up of 2560 SPUs, 160 Texture Address Units, and 64 Raster Operation Units.

Compare those specs to the Geforce GTX 760, which features clock speeds of 980 MHz on the GPU, and 1502 MHz on the 2048 MB of GDDR5 memory. It features 1152 SPUs as well as 96 Texture Address Units and 32 Rasterization Operator Units.

Power Usage and Theoretical Benchmarks

Power Consumption (Max TDP)

Geforce GTX 760 170 Watts
GeForce RTX 2070 Super 215 Watts
Difference: 45 Watts (26%)

Memory Bandwidth

The GeForce RTX 2070 Super should in theory perform a lot faster than the Geforce GTX 760 overall. (explain)

GeForce RTX 2070 Super 458752 MB/sec
Geforce GTX 760 192256 MB/sec
Difference: 266496 (139%)

Texel Rate

The GeForce RTX 2070 Super should be much (more or less 173%) faster with regards to AF than the Geforce GTX 760. (explain)

GeForce RTX 2070 Super 256800 Mtexels/sec
Geforce GTX 760 94080 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 162720 (173%)

Pixel Rate

If running with high levels of AA is important to you, then the GeForce RTX 2070 Super is the winner, and very much so. (explain)

GeForce RTX 2070 Super 102720 Mpixels/sec
Geforce GTX 760 31360 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 71360 (228%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Memory bandwidth is the largest amount of information (counted in MB per second) that can be transported across the external memory interface within a second. It's calculated by multiplying the card's bus width by its memory speed. If it uses DDR RAM, the result should be multiplied by 2 once again. If it uses DDR5, multiply by 4 instead. The higher the memory bandwidth, the faster the card will be in general. It especially helps with AA, High Dynamic Range and high resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum texture map elements (texels) that are processed per second. This number is calculated by multiplying the total amount of texture units of the card by the core speed of the chip. The higher the texel rate, the better the graphics card will be at texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels in a second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the most pixels that the graphics card can possibly record to the local memory in a second - measured in millions of pixels per second. The figure is worked out by multiplying the amount of Raster Operations Pipelines by the clock speed of the card. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - sometimes also referred to as Render Output Units) are responsible for filling the screen with pixels (the image). The actual pixel fill rate also depends on quite a few other factors, especially the memory bandwidth of the card - the lower the bandwidth is, the lower the ability to reach the max fill rate.
