Radeon HD 6670 (OEM) 1GB vs Radeon R5 M330

Intro

The Radeon HD 6670 (OEM) 1GB comes with a GPU clock speed of 800 MHz, and the 1024 MB of GDDR5 RAM runs at 1000 MHz through a 128-bit bus. It also features 480 Stream Processors, 24 Texture Address Units, and 8 ROPs.

Compare those specifications to the Radeon R5 M330, which has a core clock frequency of 1030 MHz and a DDR3 memory frequency of 900 MHz. It also features a 64-bit memory bus, and uses a 28 nm design. It is comprised of 320 SPUs, 20 TAUs, and 8 Raster Operation Units.

Power Usage and Theoretical Benchmarks

Memory Bandwidth

Theoretically, the Radeon HD 6670 (OEM) 1GB should perform quite a bit faster than the Radeon R5 M330 in general. (explain)

Radeon HD 6670 (OEM) 1GB 64000 MB/sec
Radeon R5 M330 14400 MB/sec
Difference: 49600 (344%)

Texel Rate

The Radeon R5 M330 is a small bit (more or less 7%) better at texture filtering than the Radeon HD 6670 (OEM) 1GB. (explain)

Radeon R5 M330 20600 Mtexels/sec
Radeon HD 6670 (OEM) 1GB 19200 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 1400 (7%)

Pixel Rate

The Radeon R5 M330 will be a lot (more or less 29%) more effective at AA than the Radeon HD 6670 (OEM) 1GB, and also will be capable of handling higher screen resolutions without losing too much performance. (explain)

Radeon R5 M330 8240 Mpixels/sec
Radeon HD 6670 (OEM) 1GB 6400 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 1840 (29%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Bandwidth is the largest amount of data (in units of megabytes per second) that can be transported past the external memory interface within a second. It is worked out by multiplying the card's interface width by the speed of its memory. If the card has DDR memory, it must be multiplied by 2 again. If it uses DDR5, multiply by 4 instead. The better the card's memory bandwidth, the better the card will be in general. It especially helps with AA, HDR and high resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum amount of texture map elements (texels) that are processed per second. This number is calculated by multiplying the total number of texture units by the core speed of the chip. The better this number, the better the graphics card will be at texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels applied per second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the maximum number of pixels the graphics card can possibly write to its local memory in a second - measured in millions of pixels per second. The figure is worked out by multiplying the number of colour ROPs by the the core clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - sometimes also referred to as Render Output Units) are responsible for drawing the pixels (image) on the screen. The actual pixel rate is also dependant on lots of other factors, especially the memory bandwidth of the card - the lower the memory bandwidth is, the lower the ability to get to the max fill rate.
