Power Usage and Theoretical Benchmarks

Power Consumption (Max TDP)

GeForce 820M 15 Watts
Radeon HD 3650 512MB 78 Watts
Difference: 63 Watts (420%)

Memory Bandwidth

Theoretically, the Radeon HD 3650 512MB should be a lot faster than the GeForce 820M in general. (explain)

Radeon HD 3650 512MB 25600 MB/sec
GeForce 820M 16000 MB/sec
Difference: 9600 (60%)

Texel Rate

The GeForce 820M is much (approximately 98%) better at AF than the Radeon HD 3650 512MB. (explain)

GeForce 820M 11504 Mtexels/sec
Radeon HD 3650 512MB 5800 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 5704 (98%)

Pixel Rate

The Radeon HD 3650 512MB should be a little bit (about 1%) faster with regards to FSAA than the GeForce 820M, and capable of handling higher screen resolutions without losing too much performance. (explain)

Radeon HD 3650 512MB 2900 Mpixels/sec
GeForce 820M 2876 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 24 (1%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Memory bandwidth is the maximum amount of data (in units of MB per second) that can be moved across the external memory interface in a second. It is calculated by multiplying the interface width by its memory clock speed. If it uses DDR type memory, it must be multiplied by 2 again. If it uses DDR5, multiply by ANOTHER 2x. The better the card's memory bandwidth, the better the card will be in general. It especially helps with AA, HDR and high resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum number of texture map elements (texels) that are applied per second. This is calculated by multiplying the total texture units of the card by the core clock speed of the chip. The better the texel rate, the better the card will be at handling texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels per second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the most pixels the video card could possibly write to the local memory in one second - measured in millions of pixels per second. Pixel rate is calculated by multiplying the amount of Render Output Units by the the core clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - aka Render Output Units) are responsible for drawing the pixels (image) on the screen. The actual pixel output rate also depends on lots of other factors, most notably the memory bandwidth - the lower the memory bandwidth is, the lower the potential to get to the maximum fill rate.
