GeForce GTX 570 vs GeForce GTX 580 3GB

Intro

The GeForce GTX 570 uses a 40 nm design. nVidia has clocked the core frequency at 732 MHz. The GDDR5 memory works at a frequency of 950 MHz on this card. It features 480 SPUs as well as 60 Texture Address Units and 40 Rasterization Operator Units.

Compare that to the GeForce GTX 580 3GB, which comes with clock speeds of 772 MHz on the GPU, and 1002 MHz on the 3072 MB of GDDR5 RAM. It features 512 SPUs as well as 64 TAUs and 48 Rasterization Operator Units.

Power Usage and Theoretical Benchmarks

Power Consumption (Max TDP)

GeForce GTX 570 219 Watts
GeForce GTX 580 3GB 244 Watts
Difference: 25 Watts (11%)

Memory Bandwidth

The GeForce GTX 580 3GB should theoretically perform quite a bit faster than the GeForce GTX 570 in general. (explain)

GeForce GTX 580 3GB 192384 MB/sec
GeForce GTX 570 152000 MB/sec
Difference: 40384 (27%)

Texel Rate

The GeForce GTX 580 3GB is a small bit (approximately 12%) better at anisotropic filtering than the GeForce GTX 570. (explain)

GeForce GTX 580 3GB 49408 Mtexels/sec
GeForce GTX 570 43920 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 5488 (12%)

Pixel Rate

The GeForce GTX 580 3GB will be a lot (more or less 27%) better at FSAA than the GeForce GTX 570, and should be capable of handling higher screen resolutions while still performing well. (explain)

GeForce GTX 580 3GB 37056 Mpixels/sec
GeForce GTX 570 29280 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 7776 (27%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Memory bandwidth is the largest amount of data (measured in megabytes per second) that can be transferred past the external memory interface in one second. It's worked out by multiplying the card's interface width by its memory speed. If it uses DDR RAM, it should be multiplied by 2 once again. If DDR5, multiply by ANOTHER 2x. The higher the memory bandwidth, the faster the card will be in general. It especially helps with anti-aliasing, High Dynamic Range and higher screen resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum number of texture map elements (texels) that are processed in one second. This number is worked out by multiplying the total texture units by the core clock speed of the chip. The higher this number, the better the video card will be at handling texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels processed in a second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the most pixels the video card could possibly record to its local memory in one second - measured in millions of pixels per second. The figure is calculated by multiplying the number of Render Output Units by the clock speed of the card. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - sometimes also referred to as Render Output Units) are responsible for filling the screen with pixels (the image). The actual pixel rate also depends on quite a few other factors, especially the memory bandwidth of the card - the lower the bandwidth is, the lower the potential to reach the maximum fill rate.

Wow the more GB on the card the more graphic is shown clearly. I never knew that .

Actually the more GB = You get more reallistic Textures(walls Colors). So it's important!

Try to compare ATI HD 5970 with the GTX 590(Last Model of Invidia) and then with ATI HD 7970(Last model of ATI).
