GeForce GTX 750 Ti vs GeForce RTX 4070 Ti

Intro

The GeForce GTX 750 Ti comes with a GPU core clock speed of 1020 MHz, and the 2048 MB of GDDR5 memory is set to run at 1350 MHz through a 128-bit bus. It also is comprised of 640 SPUs, 40 TAUs, and 16 ROPs.

Compare all that to the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti, which comes with GPU clock speed of 2310 MHz, and 12288 MB of GDDR6X RAM running at 1313 MHz through a 192-bit bus. It also is comprised of 7680 SPUs, 240 TAUs, and 80 Raster Operation Units.

Power Usage and Theoretical Benchmarks

Power Consumption (Max TDP)

GeForce GTX 750 Ti 60 Watts
GeForce RTX 4070 Ti 285 Watts
Difference: 225 Watts (375%)

Memory Bandwidth

Theoretically speaking, the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti should perform quite a bit faster than the GeForce GTX 750 Ti in general. (explain)

GeForce RTX 4070 Ti 516096 MB/sec
GeForce GTX 750 Ti 86400 MB/sec
Difference: 429696 (497%)

Texel Rate

The GeForce RTX 4070 Ti is quite a bit (about 1259%) more effective at AF than the GeForce GTX 750 Ti. (explain)

GeForce RTX 4070 Ti 554400 Mtexels/sec
GeForce GTX 750 Ti 40800 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 513600 (1259%)

Pixel Rate

The GeForce RTX 4070 Ti should be quite a bit (more or less 1032%) more effective at anti-aliasing than the GeForce GTX 750 Ti, and also will be capable of handling higher resolutions without slowing down too much. (explain)

GeForce RTX 4070 Ti 184800 Mpixels/sec
GeForce GTX 750 Ti 16320 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 168480 (1032%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Memory bandwidth is the max amount of data (measured in MB per second) that can be moved across the external memory interface in a second. It is calculated by multiplying the card's bus width by its memory speed. If it uses DDR type memory, the result should be multiplied by 2 again. If DDR5, multiply by 4 instead. The better the bandwidth is, the better the card will be in general. It especially helps with AA, HDR and high resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum texture map elements (texels) that are applied per second. This number is calculated by multiplying the total amount of texture units by the core speed of the chip. The higher this number, the better the graphics card will be at handling texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels processed in one second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the most pixels that the graphics card can possibly write to its local memory per second - measured in millions of pixels per second. The figure is calculated by multiplying the amount of Render Output Units by the the card's clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - aka Render Output Units) are responsible for outputting the pixels (image) to the screen. The actual pixel output rate is also dependant on quite a few other factors, most notably the memory bandwidth - the lower the memory bandwidth is, the lower the ability to get to the max fill rate.
