GeForce RTX 4070 Ti 285 Watts
Difference: 35 Watts (14%)

Memory Bandwidth

As far as performance goes, the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti should theoretically be quite a bit superior to the GeForce GTX 980 Ti in general. (explain)

GeForce RTX 4070 Ti 516096 MB/sec
GeForce GTX 980 Ti 336000 MB/sec
Difference: 180096 (54%)

Texel Rate

The GeForce RTX 4070 Ti is a lot (approximately 215%) better at texture filtering than the GeForce GTX 980 Ti. (explain)

GeForce RTX 4070 Ti 554400 Mtexels/sec
GeForce GTX 980 Ti 176000 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 378400 (215%)

Pixel Rate

The GeForce RTX 4070 Ti will be quite a bit (about 93%) faster with regards to AA than the GeForce GTX 980 Ti, and capable of handling higher screen resolutions without slowing down too much. (explain)

GeForce RTX 4070 Ti 184800 Mpixels/sec
GeForce GTX 980 Ti 96000 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 88800 (93%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Memory bandwidth is the largest amount of data (measured in MB per second) that can be moved over the external memory interface in one second. The number is worked out by multiplying the card's bus width by its memory speed. If the card has DDR RAM, the result should be multiplied by 2 again. If DDR5, multiply by ANOTHER 2x. The better the bandwidth is, the better the card will be in general. It especially helps with anti-aliasing, High Dynamic Range and higher screen resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum amount of texture map elements (texels) that are processed per second. This number is calculated by multiplying the total texture units by the core clock speed of the chip. The higher the texel rate, the better the card will be at handling texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels processed in a second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the most pixels that the graphics card could possibly write to its local memory per second - measured in millions of pixels per second. The number is worked out by multiplying the number of Render Output Units by the the card's clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - aka Render Output Units) are responsible for drawing the pixels (image) on the screen. The actual pixel fill rate also depends on many other factors, most notably the memory bandwidth of the card - the lower the memory bandwidth is, the lower the potential to reach the max fill rate.
