GeForce GTX 660 vs Radeon RX 6750 XT

Intro

The GeForce GTX 660 comes with a GPU core clock speed of 980 MHz, and the 2048 MB of GDDR5 memory is set to run at 1502 MHz through a 192-bit bus. It also is comprised of 960 Stream Processors, 80 Texture Address Units, and 24 ROPs.

Compare all that to the Radeon RX 6750 XT, which uses a 7 nm design. AMD has set the core frequency at 2150 MHz. The GDDR6 RAM is set to run at a speed of 2250 MHz on this specific model. It features 2560 SPUs along with 160 Texture Address Units and 64 ROPs.

Power Usage and Theoretical Benchmarks

Power Consumption (Max TDP)

GeForce GTX 660 140 Watts
Radeon RX 6750 XT 250 Watts
Difference: 110 Watts (79%)

Memory Bandwidth

In theory, the Radeon RX 6750 XT is 207% faster than the GeForce GTX 660 in general, because of its higher data rate. (explain)

Radeon RX 6750 XT 442368 MB/sec
GeForce GTX 660 144192 MB/sec
Difference: 298176 (207%)

Texel Rate

The Radeon RX 6750 XT is a lot (about 339%) better at anisotropic filtering than the GeForce GTX 660. (explain)

Radeon RX 6750 XT 344000 Mtexels/sec
GeForce GTX 660 78400 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 265600 (339%)

Pixel Rate

If running with lots of anti-aliasing is important to you, then the Radeon RX 6750 XT is a better choice, by a large margin. (explain)

Radeon RX 6750 XT 137600 Mpixels/sec
GeForce GTX 660 23520 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 114080 (485%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Bandwidth is the maximum amount of data (measured in MB per second) that can be transported over the external memory interface in a second. It is calculated by multiplying the bus width by its memory clock speed. In the case of DDR RAM, the result should be multiplied by 2 again. If it uses DDR5, multiply by ANOTHER 2x. The better the card's memory bandwidth, the faster the card will be in general. It especially helps with anti-aliasing, High Dynamic Range and higher screen resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum texture map elements (texels) that can be processed per second. This figure is worked out by multiplying the total number of texture units by the core clock speed of the chip. The higher this number, the better the card will be at texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels processed in one second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the maximum number of pixels that the graphics chip can possibly write to the local memory in a second - measured in millions of pixels per second. The figure is worked out by multiplying the amount of Render Output Units by the the core clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - also called Render Output Units) are responsible for outputting the pixels (image) to the screen. The actual pixel fill rate is also dependant on quite a few other factors, most notably the memory bandwidth of the card - the lower the memory bandwidth is, the lower the potential to get to the maximum fill rate.
