GeForce GTX 660 Ti vs Radeon RX 6650 XT

Intro

The GeForce GTX 660 Ti has core clock speeds of 915 MHz on the GPU, and 1500 MHz on the 2048 MB of GDDR5 memory. It features 1344 SPUs as well as 112 TAUs and 24 ROPs.

Compare those specifications to the Radeon RX 6650 XT, which comes with a core clock speed of 2055 MHz and a GDDR6 memory speed of 2190 MHz. It also features a 128-bit bus, and uses a 7 nm design. It features 2048 SPUs, 128 TAUs, and 64 Raster Operation Units.

GeForce GTX 660 Ti 150 Watts
Radeon RX 6650 XT 176 Watts
Difference: 26 Watts (17%)

Memory Bandwidth

Performance-wise, the Radeon RX 6650 XT should in theory be a lot better than the GeForce GTX 660 Ti in general. (explain)

Radeon RX 6650 XT 287072 MB/sec
GeForce GTX 660 Ti 144000 MB/sec
Difference: 143072 (99%)

Texel Rate

The Radeon RX 6650 XT should be much (about 157%) better at texture filtering than the GeForce GTX 660 Ti. (explain)

Radeon RX 6650 XT 263040 Mtexels/sec
GeForce GTX 660 Ti 102480 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 160560 (157%)

Pixel Rate

The Radeon RX 6650 XT should be much (more or less 499%) better at FSAA than the GeForce GTX 660 Ti, and also should be able to handle higher resolutions better. (explain)

Radeon RX 6650 XT 131520 Mpixels/sec
GeForce GTX 660 Ti 21960 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 109560 (499%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Bandwidth is the largest amount of data (counted in MB per second) that can be transported past the external memory interface in one second. It is worked out by multiplying the bus width by the speed of its memory. If it uses DDR type RAM, the result should be multiplied by 2 again. If DDR5, multiply by ANOTHER 2x. The better the card's memory bandwidth, the faster the card will be in general. It especially helps with AA, High Dynamic Range and high resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum amount of texture map elements (texels) that are applied per second. This figure is worked out by multiplying the total number of texture units of the card by the core speed of the chip. The higher this number, the better the video card will be at texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels applied per second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the maximum amount of pixels the video card could possibly write to the local memory in one second - measured in millions of pixels per second. The number is calculated by multiplying the number of Render Output Units by the clock speed of the card. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - also sometimes called Render Output Units) are responsible for drawing the pixels (image) on the screen. The actual pixel rate is also dependant on lots of other factors, especially the memory bandwidth of the card - the lower the memory bandwidth is, the lower the ability to get to the maximum fill rate.
