Radeon HD 6670 (OEM) 1GB vs Radeon RX Vega 64

Intro

The Radeon HD 6670 (OEM) 1GB comes with a GPU clock speed of 800 MHz, and the 1024 MB of GDDR5 memory is set to run at 1000 MHz through a 128-bit bus. It also is made up of 480 Stream Processors, 24 TAUs, and 8 Raster Operation Units.

Compare those specs to the Radeon RX Vega 64, which features a core clock frequency of 1247 MHz and a HBM2 memory speed of 1890 MHz. It also features a 2048-bit bus, and uses a 14 nm design. It features 4096 SPUs, 256 TAUs, and 64 ROPs.

In theory, the Radeon RX Vega 64 is 674% quicker than the Radeon HD 6670 (OEM) 1GB in general, due to its greater bandwidth. (explain)

Radeon RX Vega 64 495411 MB/sec
Radeon HD 6670 (OEM) 1GB 64000 MB/sec
Difference: 431411 (674%)

Texel Rate

The Radeon RX Vega 64 is a lot (about 1563%) more effective at texture filtering than the Radeon HD 6670 (OEM) 1GB. (explain)

Radeon RX Vega 64 319232 Mtexels/sec
Radeon HD 6670 (OEM) 1GB 19200 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 300032 (1563%)

Pixel Rate

If using lots of anti-aliasing is important to you, then the Radeon RX Vega 64 is superior to the Radeon HD 6670 (OEM) 1GB, by a large margin. (explain)

Radeon RX Vega 64 79808 Mpixels/sec
Radeon HD 6670 (OEM) 1GB 6400 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 73408 (1147%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Memory bandwidth is the largest amount of data (counted in megabytes per second) that can be transported across the external memory interface within a second. The number is calculated by multiplying the card's bus width by the speed of its memory. If it uses DDR RAM, it must be multiplied by 2 once again. If DDR5, multiply by ANOTHER 2x. The better the card's memory bandwidth, the better the card will be in general. It especially helps with anti-aliasing, High Dynamic Range and high resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum texture map elements (texels) that are processed in one second. This number is worked out by multiplying the total amount of texture units of the card by the core clock speed of the chip. The better this number, the better the card will be at texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels applied per second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the maximum amount of pixels that the graphics chip could possibly record to the local memory per second - measured in millions of pixels per second. The number is worked out by multiplying the amount of Raster Operations Pipelines by the the card's clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - also sometimes called Render Output Units) are responsible for filling the screen with pixels (the image). The actual pixel output rate also depends on many other factors, most notably the memory bandwidth of the card - the lower the memory bandwidth is, the lower the ability to get to the max fill rate.
