Power Usage and Theoretical Benchmarks

Memory Bandwidth

The Radeon HD 7870 XT should in theory perform quite a bit faster than the Radeon R9 M365X in general. (explain)

Radeon HD 7870 XT 192000 MB/sec
Radeon R9 M365X 72000 MB/sec
Difference: 120000 (167%)

Texel Rate

The Radeon HD 7870 XT is much (about 140%) more effective at AF than the Radeon R9 M365X. (explain)

Radeon HD 7870 XT 88800 Mtexels/sec
Radeon R9 M365X 37000 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 51800 (140%)

Pixel Rate

If running with high levels of AA is important to you, then the Radeon HD 7870 XT is superior to the Radeon R9 M365X, by a large margin. (explain)

Radeon HD 7870 XT 29600 Mpixels/sec
Radeon R9 M365X 14800 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 14800 (100%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Bandwidth is the maximum amount of information (in units of megabytes per second) that can be transferred across the external memory interface in one second. It's calculated by multiplying the interface width by the speed of its memory. If it uses DDR memory, the result should be multiplied by 2 once again. If DDR5, multiply by ANOTHER 2x. The higher the card's memory bandwidth, the better the card will be in general. It especially helps with anti-aliasing, High Dynamic Range and high resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum number of texture map elements (texels) that can be processed per second. This number is calculated by multiplying the total texture units of the card by the core clock speed of the chip. The higher this number, the better the video card will be at handling texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels in one second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the most pixels the video card could possibly record to the local memory per second - measured in millions of pixels per second. The figure is calculated by multiplying the number of ROPs by the the core clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - also called Render Output Units) are responsible for filling the screen with pixels (the image). The actual pixel output rate also depends on many other factors, especially the memory bandwidth of the card - the lower the bandwidth is, the lower the ability to reach the maximum fill rate.
