Radeon HD 6670 (OEM) vs Radeon R5 M330

Intro

The Radeon HD 6670 (OEM) comes with clock speeds of 800 MHz on the GPU, and 1000 MHz on the 512 MB of GDDR5 memory. It features 480 SPUs along with 24 Texture Address Units and 8 Rasterization Operator Units.

Compare that to the Radeon R5 M330, which comes with core speeds of 1030 MHz on the GPU, and 900 MHz on the 2048 MB of DDR3 RAM. It features 320 SPUs along with 20 TAUs and 8 Rasterization Operator Units.

Power Usage and Theoretical Benchmarks

Memory Bandwidth

As far as performance goes, the Radeon HD 6670 (OEM) should theoretically be much better than the Radeon R5 M330 in general. (explain)

Radeon HD 6670 (OEM) 64000 MB/sec
Radeon R5 M330 14400 MB/sec
Difference: 49600 (344%)

Texel Rate

The Radeon R5 M330 will be a small bit (more or less 7%) more effective at AF than the Radeon HD 6670 (OEM). (explain)

Radeon R5 M330 20600 Mtexels/sec
Radeon HD 6670 (OEM) 19200 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 1400 (7%)

Pixel Rate

If using lots of anti-aliasing is important to you, then the Radeon R5 M330 is superior to the Radeon HD 6670 (OEM), and very much so. (explain)

Radeon R5 M330 8240 Mpixels/sec
Radeon HD 6670 (OEM) 6400 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 1840 (29%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Bandwidth is the max amount of information (measured in MB per second) that can be transferred across the external memory interface in a second. The number is calculated by multiplying the card's interface width by the speed of its memory. If the card has DDR type memory, it must be multiplied by 2 once again. If DDR5, multiply by ANOTHER 2x. The higher the memory bandwidth, the faster the card will be in general. It especially helps with AA, High Dynamic Range and higher screen resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum amount of texture map elements (texels) that can be applied per second. This figure is calculated by multiplying the total texture units by the core speed of the chip. The higher this number, the better the graphics card will be at handling texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels processed in a second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the most pixels that the graphics chip could possibly record to the local memory in one second - measured in millions of pixels per second. The figure is calculated by multiplying the number of ROPs by the the card's clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - sometimes also referred to as Render Output Units) are responsible for filling the screen with pixels (the image). The actual pixel output rate also depends on many other factors, most notably the memory bandwidth - the lower the memory bandwidth is, the lower the ability to get to the maximum fill rate.
