Power Usage and Theoretical Benchmarks

Power Consumption (Max TDP)

GeForce GTS 450 1GB 106 Watts
Geforce GTX 760 170 Watts
Difference: 64 Watts (60%)

Memory Bandwidth

Performance-wise, the Geforce GTX 760 should theoretically be quite a bit superior to the GeForce GTS 450 1GB in general. (explain)

Geforce GTX 760 192256 MB/sec
GeForce GTS 450 1GB 57728 MB/sec
Difference: 134528 (233%)

Texel Rate

The Geforce GTX 760 will be quite a bit (more or less 275%) better at AF than the GeForce GTS 450 1GB. (explain)

Geforce GTX 760 94080 Mtexels/sec
GeForce GTS 450 1GB 25056 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 69024 (275%)

Pixel Rate

If using lots of anti-aliasing is important to you, then the Geforce GTX 760 is the winner, by far. (explain)

Geforce GTX 760 31360 Mpixels/sec
GeForce GTS 450 1GB 12528 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 18832 (150%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Bandwidth is the max amount of information (counted in MB per second) that can be transferred past the external memory interface in a second. The number is worked out by multiplying the interface width by its memory clock speed. In the case of DDR type memory, it should be multiplied by 2 once again. If DDR5, multiply by ANOTHER 2x. The higher the card's memory bandwidth, the better the card will be in general. It especially helps with AA, High Dynamic Range and high resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum number of texture map elements (texels) that are processed in one second. This is calculated by multiplying the total texture units by the core clock speed of the chip. The higher this number, the better the graphics card will be at handling texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels in a second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the most pixels that the graphics chip can possibly write to its local memory in a second - measured in millions of pixels per second. Pixel rate is calculated by multiplying the number of colour ROPs by the the core speed of the card. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - also sometimes called Render Output Units) are responsible for drawing the pixels (image) on the screen. The actual pixel fill rate also depends on many other factors, especially the memory bandwidth of the card - the lower the bandwidth is, the lower the ability to get to the maximum fill rate.
