Memory Bandwidth

In theory, the Geforce GTX 780 should perform quite a bit faster than the GeForce GTX 460 overall. (explain)

Geforce GTX 780 288384 MB/sec
GeForce GTX 460 86400 MB/sec
Difference: 201984 (234%)

Texel Rate

The Geforce GTX 780 will be quite a bit (about 338%) better at AF than the GeForce GTX 460. (explain)

Geforce GTX 780 165696 Mtexels/sec
GeForce GTX 460 37800 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 127896 (338%)

Pixel Rate

The Geforce GTX 780 is quite a bit (more or less 156%) faster with regards to full screen anti-aliasing than the GeForce GTX 460, and also should be capable of handling higher resolutions without slowing down too much. (explain)

Geforce GTX 780 41424 Mpixels/sec
GeForce GTX 460 16200 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 25224 (156%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Bandwidth is the maximum amount of information (measured in megabytes per second) that can be transferred over the external memory interface within a second. The number is calculated by multiplying the bus width by the speed of its memory. If it uses DDR memory, it should be multiplied by 2 again. If it uses DDR5, multiply by ANOTHER 2x. The better the card's memory bandwidth, the better the card will be in general. It especially helps with anti-aliasing, High Dynamic Range and higher screen resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum amount of texture map elements (texels) that are applied in one second. This figure is calculated by multiplying the total amount of texture units of the card by the core clock speed of the chip. The better this number, the better the video card will be at handling texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels processed per second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the most pixels that the graphics chip could possibly record to its local memory in one second - measured in millions of pixels per second. The figure is worked out by multiplying the number of ROPs by the the core speed of the card. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - also called Render Output Units) are responsible for outputting the pixels (image) to the screen. The actual pixel output rate also depends on quite a few other factors, most notably the memory bandwidth - the lower the bandwidth is, the lower the ability to reach the maximum fill rate.
