Radeon RX 560 vs Radeon RX 7900 XT

Intro

The Radeon RX 560 features clock speeds of 1175 MHz on the GPU, and 1750 MHz on the 4096 MB of GDDR5 RAM. It features 1024 SPUs along with 64 TAUs and 16 Rasterization Operator Units.

Compare all that to the Radeon RX 7900 XT, which features a core clock speed of 1500 MHz and a GDDR6 memory frequency of 2500 MHz. It also makes use of a 320-bit memory bus, and makes use of a 5 nm design. It is comprised of 5376 SPUs, 336 Texture Address Units, and 192 Raster Operation Units.

Radeon RX 560 80 Watts
Radeon RX 7900 XT 300 Watts
Difference: 220 Watts (275%)

Memory Bandwidth

The Radeon RX 7900 XT should in theory perform a lot faster than the Radeon RX 560 overall. (explain)

Radeon RX 7900 XT 819200 MB/sec
Radeon RX 560 114688 MB/sec
Difference: 704512 (614%)

Texel Rate

The Radeon RX 7900 XT is quite a bit (about 570%) faster with regards to texture filtering than the Radeon RX 560. (explain)

Radeon RX 7900 XT 504000 Mtexels/sec
Radeon RX 560 75200 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 428800 (570%)

Pixel Rate

If using high levels of AA is important to you, then the Radeon RX 7900 XT is the winner, by far. (explain)

Radeon RX 7900 XT 288000 Mpixels/sec
Radeon RX 560 18800 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 269200 (1432%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Bandwidth is the maximum amount of information (counted in megabytes per second) that can be moved past the external memory interface in one second. It's worked out by multiplying the card's bus width by the speed of its memory. If the card has DDR type RAM, the result should be multiplied by 2 again. If it uses DDR5, multiply by 4 instead. The better the bandwidth is, the faster the card will be in general. It especially helps with AA, HDR and higher screen resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum amount of texture map elements (texels) that can be applied in one second. This number is calculated by multiplying the total texture units of the card by the core clock speed of the chip. The better the texel rate, the better the card will be at handling texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels processed in a second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the maximum number of pixels the video card could possibly record to its local memory in a second - measured in millions of pixels per second. Pixel rate is worked out by multiplying the number of Raster Operations Pipelines by the the core clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - also called Render Output Units) are responsible for drawing the pixels (image) on the screen. The actual pixel rate also depends on quite a few other factors, most notably the memory bandwidth - the lower the bandwidth is, the lower the ability to get to the maximum fill rate.
