Radeon R9 380X vs Radeon RX 6750 XT

Intro

The Radeon R9 380X has core speeds of 970 MHz on the GPU, and 1425 MHz on the 4096 MB of GDDR5 RAM. It features 2048 SPUs as well as 128 TAUs and 32 Rasterization Operator Units.

Compare that to the Radeon RX 6750 XT, which features GPU clock speed of 2150 MHz, and 12288 MB of GDDR6 memory running at 2250 MHz through a 192-bit bus. It also is made up of 2560 Stream Processors, 160 Texture Address Units, and 64 ROPs.

Radeon R9 380X 190 Watts
Radeon RX 6750 XT 250 Watts
Difference: 60 Watts (32%)

Memory Bandwidth

Theoretically speaking, the Radeon RX 6750 XT should be quite a bit faster than the Radeon R9 380X overall. (explain)

Radeon RX 6750 XT 442368 MB/sec
Radeon R9 380X 182400 MB/sec
Difference: 259968 (143%)

Texel Rate

The Radeon RX 6750 XT should be quite a bit (more or less 177%) more effective at texture filtering than the Radeon R9 380X. (explain)

Radeon RX 6750 XT 344000 Mtexels/sec
Radeon R9 380X 124160 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 219840 (177%)

Pixel Rate

The Radeon RX 6750 XT is much (about 343%) more effective at AA than the Radeon R9 380X, and capable of handling higher screen resolutions without losing too much performance. (explain)

Radeon RX 6750 XT 137600 Mpixels/sec
Radeon R9 380X 31040 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 106560 (343%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Bandwidth is the max amount of information (measured in MB per second) that can be transported over the external memory interface within a second. It's worked out by multiplying the interface width by its memory clock speed. In the case of DDR memory, it must be multiplied by 2 once again. If DDR5, multiply by ANOTHER 2x. The higher the card's memory bandwidth, the better the card will be in general. It especially helps with anti-aliasing, HDR and higher screen resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum texture map elements (texels) that can be applied in one second. This is worked out by multiplying the total amount of texture units of the card by the core clock speed of the chip. The higher the texel rate, the better the video card will be at texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels processed in one second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the most pixels the graphics card could possibly write to its local memory in a second - measured in millions of pixels per second. The figure is calculated by multiplying the amount of ROPs by the the card's clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - also sometimes called Render Output Units) are responsible for outputting the pixels (image) to the screen. The actual pixel output rate is also dependant on lots of other factors, especially the memory bandwidth - the lower the bandwidth is, the lower the potential to get to the maximum fill rate.
