GeForce RTX 3060 vs Radeon RX 6650 XT

Intro

The GeForce RTX 3060 features core speeds of 1320 MHz on the GPU, and 1875 MHz on the (Unknown) MB of GDDR6 memory. It features 3584 SPUs as well as 112 TAUs and 48 ROPs.

Compare those specifications to the Radeon RX 6650 XT, which has a core clock speed of 2055 MHz and a GDDR6 memory frequency of 2190 MHz. It also makes use of a 128-bit bus, and uses a 7 nm design. It features 2048 SPUs, 128 Texture Address Units, and 64 ROPs.

Radeon RX 6650 XT 176 Watts
Difference: 6 Watts (4%)

Memory Bandwidth

Theoretically speaking, the GeForce RTX 3060 is 28% quicker than the Radeon RX 6650 XT overall, because of its higher bandwidth. (explain)

GeForce RTX 3060 368640 MB/sec
Radeon RX 6650 XT 287072 MB/sec
Difference: 81568 (28%)

Texel Rate

The Radeon RX 6650 XT will be a lot (approximately 78%) faster with regards to texture filtering than the GeForce RTX 3060. (explain)

Radeon RX 6650 XT 263040 Mtexels/sec
GeForce RTX 3060 147840 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 115200 (78%)

Pixel Rate

If using a high screen resolution is important to you, then the Radeon RX 6650 XT is a better choice, by a large margin. (explain)

Radeon RX 6650 XT 131520 Mpixels/sec
GeForce RTX 3060 63360 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 68160 (108%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Bandwidth is the largest amount of information (measured in MB per second) that can be transferred across the external memory interface in a second. It is calculated by multiplying the bus width by its memory speed. If it uses DDR type memory, it should be multiplied by 2 again. If DDR5, multiply by ANOTHER 2x. The better the card's memory bandwidth, the faster the card will be in general. It especially helps with anti-aliasing, HDR and high resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum number of texture map elements (texels) that can be processed per second. This number is worked out by multiplying the total texture units of the card by the core clock speed of the chip. The better this number, the better the video card will be at handling texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels in a second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the maximum number of pixels the graphics card can possibly write to its local memory in one second - measured in millions of pixels per second. The number is calculated by multiplying the number of Render Output Units by the the core clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - aka Render Output Units) are responsible for filling the screen with pixels (the image). The actual pixel fill rate also depends on many other factors, especially the memory bandwidth of the card - the lower the memory bandwidth is, the lower the ability to get to the maximum fill rate.
