GeForce RTX 3080 12 GB vs Radeon HD 6750

Intro

The GeForce RTX 3080 12 GB uses a 8 nm design. nVidia has clocked the core speed at 1260 MHz. The GDDR6X RAM runs at a speed of 1188 MHz on this specific card. It features 8960 SPUs along with 280 TAUs and 112 Rasterization Operator Units.

Compare those specifications to the Radeon HD 6750, which has GPU clock speed of 725 MHz, and 512 MB of GDDR5 memory running at 1000 MHz through a 128-bit bus. It also is made up of 720 Stream Processors, 36 TAUs, and 16 Raster Operation Units.

Performance-wise, the GeForce RTX 3080 12 GB should in theory be much better than the Radeon HD 6750 overall. (explain)

GeForce RTX 3080 12 GB 934298 MB/sec
Radeon HD 6750 64000 MB/sec
Difference: 870298 (1360%)

Texel Rate

The GeForce RTX 3080 12 GB is much (more or less 1252%) more effective at texture filtering than the Radeon HD 6750. (explain)

GeForce RTX 3080 12 GB 352800 Mtexels/sec
Radeon HD 6750 26100 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 326700 (1252%)

Pixel Rate

If running with a high screen resolution is important to you, then the GeForce RTX 3080 12 GB is superior to the Radeon HD 6750, by far. (explain)

GeForce RTX 3080 12 GB 141120 Mpixels/sec
Radeon HD 6750 11600 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 129520 (1117%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Bandwidth is the largest amount of information (counted in megabytes per second) that can be transported over the external memory interface within a second. The number is calculated by multiplying the card's interface width by its memory clock speed. If the card has DDR RAM, it should be multiplied by 2 once again. If DDR5, multiply by 4 instead. The better the memory bandwidth, the better the card will be in general. It especially helps with AA, High Dynamic Range and higher screen resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum amount of texture map elements (texels) that can be processed in one second. This figure is calculated by multiplying the total texture units of the card by the core clock speed of the chip. The better the texel rate, the better the graphics card will be at texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels in one second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the most pixels the graphics card could possibly record to the local memory per second - measured in millions of pixels per second. The number is worked out by multiplying the number of Render Output Units by the clock speed of the card. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - aka Render Output Units) are responsible for drawing the pixels (image) on the screen. The actual pixel output rate is also dependant on lots of other factors, most notably the memory bandwidth - the lower the memory bandwidth is, the lower the potential to reach the max fill rate.
