GeForce GTX 570 vs Radeon RX 6600

Intro

The GeForce GTX 570 has core clock speeds of 732 MHz on the GPU, and 950 MHz on the 1280 MB of GDDR5 RAM. It features 480 SPUs as well as 60 TAUs and 40 ROPs.

Compare all that to the Radeon RX 6600, which has a core clock speed of 1626 MHz and a GDDR6 memory frequency of 1750 MHz. It also makes use of a 128-bit bus, and makes use of a 7 nm design. It features 1792 SPUs, 112 TAUs, and 64 ROPs.

Radeon RX 6600 132 Watts
GeForce GTX 570 219 Watts
Difference: 87 Watts (66%)

Memory Bandwidth

The Radeon RX 6600 should theoretically perform quite a bit faster than the GeForce GTX 570 overall. (explain)

Radeon RX 6600 229376 MB/sec
GeForce GTX 570 152000 MB/sec
Difference: 77376 (51%)

Texel Rate

The Radeon RX 6600 should be much (more or less 315%) faster with regards to texture filtering than the GeForce GTX 570. (explain)

Radeon RX 6600 182112 Mtexels/sec
GeForce GTX 570 43920 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 138192 (315%)

Pixel Rate

The Radeon RX 6600 will be a lot (about 255%) more effective at full screen anti-aliasing than the GeForce GTX 570, and also able to handle higher screen resolutions without slowing down too much. (explain)

Radeon RX 6600 104064 Mpixels/sec
GeForce GTX 570 29280 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 74784 (255%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Memory bandwidth is the largest amount of information (measured in megabytes per second) that can be transferred across the external memory interface in a second. It's worked out by multiplying the interface width by its memory speed. In the case of DDR memory, it must be multiplied by 2 again. If it uses DDR5, multiply by ANOTHER 2x. The better the memory bandwidth, the faster the card will be in general. It especially helps with AA, HDR and higher screen resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum texture map elements (texels) that are applied per second. This figure is calculated by multiplying the total number of texture units by the core speed of the chip. The better this number, the better the video card will be at texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels applied per second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the maximum number of pixels the graphics card can possibly record to its local memory per second - measured in millions of pixels per second. Pixel rate is calculated by multiplying the number of colour ROPs by the the core clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - also sometimes called Render Output Units) are responsible for filling the screen with pixels (the image). The actual pixel rate also depends on lots of other factors, especially the memory bandwidth - the lower the memory bandwidth is, the lower the ability to reach the maximum fill rate.
