Radeon R7 360 vs Radeon RX 6800 XT

Intro

The Radeon R7 360 has core clock speeds of 1050 MHz on the GPU, and 1625 MHz on the 2048 MB of GDDR5 RAM. It features 768 SPUs as well as 48 TAUs and 16 Rasterization Operator Units.

Compare those specifications to the Radeon RX 6800 XT, which makes use of a 7 nm design. AMD has clocked the core speed at 1825 MHz. The GDDR6 RAM runs at a speed of 2000 MHz on this particular model. It features 4608 SPUs along with 288 Texture Address Units and 128 ROPs.

As far as performance goes, the Radeon RX 6800 XT should theoretically be a lot better than the Radeon R7 360 in general. (explain)

Radeon RX 6800 XT 524288 MB/sec
Radeon R7 360 104000 MB/sec
Difference: 420288 (404%)

Texel Rate

The Radeon RX 6800 XT will be much (about 943%) better at AF than the Radeon R7 360. (explain)

Radeon RX 6800 XT 525600 Mtexels/sec
Radeon R7 360 50400 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 475200 (943%)

Pixel Rate

If using high levels of AA is important to you, then the Radeon RX 6800 XT is superior to the Radeon R7 360, by far. (explain)

Radeon RX 6800 XT 233600 Mpixels/sec
Radeon R7 360 16800 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 216800 (1290%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Bandwidth is the largest amount of data (counted in megabytes per second) that can be moved past the external memory interface in one second. It's calculated by multiplying the bus width by the speed of its memory. If the card has DDR type RAM, it should be multiplied by 2 once again. If it uses DDR5, multiply by ANOTHER 2x. The higher the bandwidth is, the faster the card will be in general. It especially helps with anti-aliasing, HDR and higher screen resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum texture map elements (texels) that are processed in one second. This is calculated by multiplying the total amount of texture units of the card by the core speed of the chip. The higher this number, the better the video card will be at texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels processed per second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the most pixels that the graphics chip could possibly record to its local memory in a second - measured in millions of pixels per second. The number is worked out by multiplying the amount of Render Output Units by the the card's clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - aka Render Output Units) are responsible for drawing the pixels (image) on the screen. The actual pixel rate is also dependant on many other factors, most notably the memory bandwidth of the card - the lower the memory bandwidth is, the lower the ability to reach the max fill rate.
