GeForce GT 440 1.5GB vs Nvidia Titan X

Intro

The GeForce GT 440 1.5GB features clock speeds of 594 MHz on the GPU, and 900 MHz on the 1536 MB of GDDR3 memory. It features 144 SPUs as well as 24 TAUs and 24 ROPs.

Compare that to the Nvidia Titan X, which uses a 16 nm design. nVidia has set the core speed at 1417 MHz. The GDDR5X memory is set to run at a speed of 1251 MHz on this particular card. It features 3584 SPUs along with 224 TAUs and 96 ROPs.

Nvidia Titan X 250 Watts
Difference: 194 Watts (346%)

Memory Bandwidth

As far as performance goes, the Nvidia Titan X should theoretically be much superior to the GeForce GT 440 1.5GB overall. (explain)

Nvidia Titan X 491520 MB/sec
GeForce GT 440 1.5GB 43200 MB/sec
Difference: 448320 (1038%)

Texel Rate

The Nvidia Titan X is quite a bit (more or less 2126%) faster with regards to AF than the GeForce GT 440 1.5GB. (explain)

Nvidia Titan X 317408 Mtexels/sec
GeForce GT 440 1.5GB 14256 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 303152 (2126%)

Pixel Rate

The Nvidia Titan X should be quite a bit (more or less 854%) more effective at AA than the GeForce GT 440 1.5GB, and should be able to handle higher screen resolutions without losing too much performance. (explain)

Nvidia Titan X 136032 Mpixels/sec
GeForce GT 440 1.5GB 14256 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 121776 (854%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Bandwidth is the max amount of data (counted in megabytes per second) that can be moved over the external memory interface in one second. It's calculated by multiplying the card's interface width by its memory speed. If it uses DDR memory, it must be multiplied by 2 again. If DDR5, multiply by 4 instead. The higher the card's memory bandwidth, the better the card will be in general. It especially helps with AA, HDR and high resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum number of texture map elements (texels) that can be applied in one second. This number is calculated by multiplying the total texture units of the card by the core clock speed of the chip. The higher the texel rate, the better the card will be at texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels in a second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the most pixels that the graphics card can possibly record to its local memory per second - measured in millions of pixels per second. Pixel rate is calculated by multiplying the number of Raster Operations Pipelines by the the core clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - aka Render Output Units) are responsible for drawing the pixels (image) on the screen. The actual pixel output rate is also dependant on many other factors, most notably the memory bandwidth - the lower the bandwidth is, the lower the potential to get to the maximum fill rate.
