Radeon HD 6450 (OEM) 1GB vs Radeon R7 370 4G

Intro

The Radeon HD 6450 (OEM) 1GB makes use of a 40 nm design. AMD has set the core speed at 750 MHz. The GDDR5 RAM is set to run at a speed of 900 MHz on this specific model. It features 160 SPUs as well as 8 TAUs and 4 ROPs.

Compare all that to the Radeon R7 370 4G, which features GPU core speed of 975 MHz, and 4096 MB of GDDR5 memory running at 1400 MHz through a 256-bit bus. It also is comprised of 1024 SPUs, 64 TAUs, and 32 ROPs.

Radeon HD 6450 (OEM) 1GB 31 Watts
Radeon R7 370 4G 110 Watts
Difference: 79 Watts (255%)

Memory Bandwidth

Performance-wise, the Radeon R7 370 4G should in theory be a lot better than the Radeon HD 6450 (OEM) 1GB in general. (explain)

Radeon R7 370 4G 179200 MB/sec
Radeon HD 6450 (OEM) 1GB 28800 MB/sec
Difference: 150400 (522%)

Texel Rate

The Radeon R7 370 4G will be quite a bit (about 940%) better at texture filtering than the Radeon HD 6450 (OEM) 1GB. (explain)

Radeon R7 370 4G 62400 Mtexels/sec
Radeon HD 6450 (OEM) 1GB 6000 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 56400 (940%)

Pixel Rate

If running with high levels of AA is important to you, then the Radeon R7 370 4G is superior to the Radeon HD 6450 (OEM) 1GB, by a large margin. (explain)

Radeon R7 370 4G 31200 Mpixels/sec
Radeon HD 6450 (OEM) 1GB 3000 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 28200 (940%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Bandwidth is the maximum amount of data (counted in megabytes per second) that can be transported past the external memory interface in a second. The number is calculated by multiplying the bus width by the speed of its memory. If it uses DDR type memory, it must be multiplied by 2 again. If it uses DDR5, multiply by ANOTHER 2x. The higher the bandwidth is, the faster the card will be in general. It especially helps with anti-aliasing, High Dynamic Range and higher screen resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum amount of texture map elements (texels) that are applied per second. This figure is calculated by multiplying the total amount of texture units by the core speed of the chip. The higher this number, the better the card will be at handling texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels applied in a second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the maximum amount of pixels the video card could possibly record to the local memory in a second - measured in millions of pixels per second. The figure is calculated by multiplying the number of ROPs by the the card's clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - aka Render Output Units) are responsible for outputting the pixels (image) to the screen. The actual pixel output rate also depends on many other factors, most notably the memory bandwidth - the lower the memory bandwidth is, the lower the ability to get to the max fill rate.
