GeForce GTX 750 3958 points
GeForce GTX 550 Ti 1897 points
Difference: 2061 (109%)

Power Usage and Theoretical Benchmarks

Power Consumption (Max TDP)

GeForce GTX 750 55 Watts
GeForce GTX 550 Ti 116 Watts
Difference: 61 Watts (111%)

Memory Bandwidth

The GeForce GTX 550 Ti should in theory be much faster than the GeForce GTX 750 in general. (explain)

GeForce GTX 550 Ti 98496 MB/sec
GeForce GTX 750 80000 MB/sec
Difference: 18496 (23%)

Texel Rate

The GeForce GTX 750 is a small bit (more or less 13%) faster with regards to AF than the GeForce GTX 550 Ti. (explain)

GeForce GTX 750 32640 Mtexels/sec
GeForce GTX 550 Ti 28800 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 3840 (13%)

Pixel Rate

If using a high resolution is important to you, then the GeForce GTX 550 Ti is a better choice, by a large margin. (explain)

GeForce GTX 550 Ti 21600 Mpixels/sec
GeForce GTX 750 16320 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 5280 (32%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Memory bandwidth is the max amount of data (in units of megabytes per second) that can be transferred over the external memory interface within a second. The number is worked out by multiplying the card's bus width by its memory speed. If it uses DDR type RAM, the result should be multiplied by 2 again. If DDR5, multiply by 4 instead. The higher the bandwidth is, the faster the card will be in general. It especially helps with anti-aliasing, High Dynamic Range and higher screen resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum amount of texture map elements (texels) that can be applied in one second. This number is worked out by multiplying the total number of texture units by the core clock speed of the chip. The higher the texel rate, the better the video card will be at handling texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels in one second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the most pixels that the graphics chip could possibly record to the local memory per second - measured in millions of pixels per second. The number is worked out by multiplying the amount of Render Output Units by the the core speed of the card. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - aka Render Output Units) are responsible for filling the screen with pixels (the image). The actual pixel rate is also dependant on lots of other factors, especially the memory bandwidth of the card - the lower the memory bandwidth is, the lower the ability to get to the max fill rate.

A perfect example of when a comparison done automatically by the numbers on a site such as this is useless, and worse, wrong. The 750, with it's Maxwell core, is a much faster card.

Tom says:

And I have both cards, and can attest to the 750 being faster than the 550ti.

Martin says:

Hey. Can i ask to you something?? is really 750 better than 550ti??? can i trust to this server or not??? 🙂

And can you tell me, can i streaming LoL with good quality and playing BF3 with good quality with 750 card?? 🙂 Thanks man 🙂
