GeForce GT 430 (OEM) vs GeForce RTX 3080 12 GB

Intro

The GeForce GT 430 (OEM) comes with core speeds of 700 MHz on the GPU, and 900 MHz on the 2048 MB of GDDR3 RAM. It features 96 SPUs along with 16 Texture Address Units and 4 Rasterization Operator Units.

Compare those specs to the GeForce RTX 3080 12 GB, which uses a 8 nm design. nVidia has set the core speed at 1260 MHz. The GDDR6X memory is set to run at a frequency of 1188 MHz on this specific card. It features 8960 SPUs along with 280 Texture Address Units and 112 ROPs.

GeForce GT 430 (OEM) 60 Watts
GeForce RTX 3080 12 GB 350 Watts
Difference: 290 Watts (483%)

Memory Bandwidth

In theory, the GeForce RTX 3080 12 GB should be quite a bit faster than the GeForce GT 430 (OEM) overall. (explain)

GeForce RTX 3080 12 GB 934298 MB/sec
GeForce GT 430 (OEM) 28800 MB/sec
Difference: 905498 (3144%)

Texel Rate

The GeForce RTX 3080 12 GB will be quite a bit (more or less 3050%) faster with regards to texture filtering than the GeForce GT 430 (OEM). (explain)

GeForce RTX 3080 12 GB 352800 Mtexels/sec
GeForce GT 430 (OEM) 11200 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 341600 (3050%)

Pixel Rate

The GeForce RTX 3080 12 GB is much (about 4940%) faster with regards to FSAA than the GeForce GT 430 (OEM), and also should be able to handle higher screen resolutions better. (explain)

GeForce RTX 3080 12 GB 141120 Mpixels/sec
GeForce GT 430 (OEM) 2800 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 138320 (4940%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Memory bandwidth is the max amount of data (measured in megabytes per second) that can be moved across the external memory interface in one second. The number is calculated by multiplying the bus width by its memory speed. In the case of DDR type memory, it must be multiplied by 2 once again. If DDR5, multiply by ANOTHER 2x. The higher the memory bandwidth, the better the card will be in general. It especially helps with AA, High Dynamic Range and higher screen resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum number of texture map elements (texels) that are processed per second. This is calculated by multiplying the total texture units by the core speed of the chip. The higher the texel rate, the better the video card will be at texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels in one second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the most pixels the video card can possibly write to the local memory per second - measured in millions of pixels per second. The figure is worked out by multiplying the number of Render Output Units by the clock speed of the card. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - sometimes also referred to as Render Output Units) are responsible for outputting the pixels (image) to the screen. The actual pixel fill rate also depends on many other factors, most notably the memory bandwidth of the card - the lower the bandwidth is, the lower the ability to get to the maximum fill rate.
