Radeon HD 7750 vs Radeon RX 5600 XT

Intro

The Radeon HD 7750 features a GPU core speed of 800 MHz, and the 1024 MB of GDDR5 memory is set to run at 1125 MHz through a 128-bit bus. It also is made up of 512 Stream Processors, 32 Texture Address Units, and 16 Raster Operation Units.

Compare all of that to the Radeon RX 5600 XT, which makes use of a 7 nm design. AMD has set the core speed at 1375 MHz. The GDDR6 RAM runs at a speed of 1500 MHz on this model. It features 2304 SPUs as well as 144 TAUs and 64 ROPs.

The Radeon RX 5600 XT is much (approximately 673%) faster with regards to texture filtering than the Radeon HD 7750. (explain)

Radeon RX 5600 XT 198000 Mtexels/sec
Radeon HD 7750 25600 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 172400 (673%)

Pixel Rate

The Radeon RX 5600 XT should be much (about 588%) faster with regards to full screen anti-aliasing than the Radeon HD 7750, and capable of handling higher resolutions while still performing well. (explain)

Radeon RX 5600 XT 88000 Mpixels/sec
Radeon HD 7750 12800 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 75200 (588%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Memory bandwidth is the max amount of information (in units of megabytes per second) that can be transported over the external memory interface in a second. It is calculated by multiplying the bus width by its memory speed. In the case of DDR RAM, it must be multiplied by 2 once again. If it uses DDR5, multiply by 4 instead. The higher the card's memory bandwidth, the better the card will be in general. It especially helps with anti-aliasing, HDR and high resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum amount of texture map elements (texels) that are applied in one second. This figure is calculated by multiplying the total texture units by the core speed of the chip. The better the texel rate, the better the graphics card will be at texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels in a second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the maximum number of pixels the video card could possibly write to its local memory in a second - measured in millions of pixels per second. The number is worked out by multiplying the amount of Render Output Units by the the card's clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - sometimes also referred to as Render Output Units) are responsible for outputting the pixels (image) to the screen. The actual pixel fill rate is also dependant on many other factors, most notably the memory bandwidth - the lower the bandwidth is, the lower the ability to reach the max fill rate.
