Power Usage and Theoretical Benchmarks

Power Consumption (Max TDP)

Radeon R7 370 4G 110 Watts
Radeon RX 5700 180 Watts
Difference: 70 Watts (64%)

Memory Bandwidth

Theoretically speaking, the Radeon RX 5700 should be 156% faster than the Radeon R7 370 4G in general, due to its greater bandwidth. (explain)

Radeon RX 5700 458752 MB/sec
Radeon R7 370 4G 179200 MB/sec
Difference: 279552 (156%)

Texel Rate

The Radeon RX 5700 is quite a bit (about 238%) more effective at AF than the Radeon R7 370 4G. (explain)

Radeon RX 5700 210960 Mtexels/sec
Radeon R7 370 4G 62400 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 148560 (238%)

Pixel Rate

If running with lots of anti-aliasing is important to you, then the Radeon RX 5700 is superior to the Radeon R7 370 4G, by far. (explain)

Radeon RX 5700 93760 Mpixels/sec
Radeon R7 370 4G 31200 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 62560 (201%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Bandwidth is the max amount of information (measured in megabytes per second) that can be moved across the external memory interface in one second. It's worked out by multiplying the interface width by its memory speed. If it uses DDR type memory, the result should be multiplied by 2 again. If DDR5, multiply by ANOTHER 2x. The higher the bandwidth is, the faster the card will be in general. It especially helps with anti-aliasing, HDR and high resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum number of texture map elements (texels) that are processed per second. This figure is calculated by multiplying the total texture units of the card by the core clock speed of the chip. The better this number, the better the card will be at texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels applied in one second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the maximum number of pixels the graphics card could possibly write to the local memory in a second - measured in millions of pixels per second. The figure is worked out by multiplying the number of colour ROPs by the the core speed of the card. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - also sometimes called Render Output Units) are responsible for filling the screen with pixels (the image). The actual pixel fill rate also depends on lots of other factors, most notably the memory bandwidth - the lower the bandwidth is, the lower the potential to get to the maximum fill rate.
