Power Usage and Theoretical Benchmarks

Memory Bandwidth

Theoretically speaking, the Radeon HD 3850 256MB should perform quite a bit faster than the Radeon R7 M360 in general. (explain)

Radeon HD 3850 256MB 52992 MB/sec
Radeon R7 M360 16000 MB/sec
Difference: 36992 (231%)

Texel Rate

The Radeon R7 M360 will be quite a bit (more or less 153%) more effective at AF than the Radeon HD 3850 256MB. (explain)

Radeon R7 M360 27000 Mtexels/sec
Radeon HD 3850 256MB 10688 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 16312 (153%)

Pixel Rate

The Radeon HD 3850 256MB is a bit (more or less 19%) more effective at AA than the Radeon R7 M360, and also will be capable of handling higher resolutions without slowing down too much. (explain)

Radeon HD 3850 256MB 10688 Mpixels/sec
Radeon R7 M360 9000 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 1688 (19%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Bandwidth is the largest amount of data (counted in megabytes per second) that can be transported over the external memory interface in a second. It's calculated by multiplying the bus width by the speed of its memory. In the case of DDR type RAM, it must be multiplied by 2 once again. If it uses DDR5, multiply by 4 instead. The better the bandwidth is, the faster the card will be in general. It especially helps with AA, High Dynamic Range and higher screen resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum amount of texture map elements (texels) that are processed per second. This number is worked out by multiplying the total number of texture units by the core speed of the chip. The higher the texel rate, the better the card will be at handling texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels in one second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the most pixels that the graphics chip can possibly write to the local memory in one second - measured in millions of pixels per second. The number is worked out by multiplying the number of colour ROPs by the the card's clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - also called Render Output Units) are responsible for drawing the pixels (image) on the screen. The actual pixel rate is also dependant on quite a few other factors, most notably the memory bandwidth of the card - the lower the bandwidth is, the lower the ability to get to the maximum fill rate.
