Power Usage and Theoretical Benchmarks

Memory Bandwidth

The Radeon R7 M265, in theory, should be much faster than the Radeon HD 3690/3830 overall. (explain)

Radeon R7 M265 32000 MB/sec
Radeon HD 3690/3830 26496 MB/sec
Difference: 5504 (21%)

Texel Rate

The Radeon R7 M265 is quite a bit (more or less 63%) faster with regards to anisotropic filtering than the Radeon HD 3690/3830. (explain)

Radeon R7 M265 17400 Mtexels/sec
Radeon HD 3690/3830 10688 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 6712 (63%)

Pixel Rate

The Radeon HD 3690/3830 should be a lot (about 84%) faster with regards to anti-aliasing than the Radeon R7 M265, and will be able to handle higher resolutions better. (explain)

Radeon HD 3690/3830 10688 Mpixels/sec
Radeon R7 M265 5800 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 4888 (84%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Bandwidth is the maximum amount of data (measured in MB per second) that can be transferred past the external memory interface in one second. It's worked out by multiplying the card's bus width by the speed of its memory. In the case of DDR type memory, it should be multiplied by 2 once again. If DDR5, multiply by 4 instead. The higher the memory bandwidth, the faster the card will be in general. It especially helps with AA, HDR and higher screen resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum texture map elements (texels) that are applied in one second. This number is worked out by multiplying the total amount of texture units by the core speed of the chip. The better the texel rate, the better the graphics card will be at texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels applied in one second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the maximum amount of pixels the graphics card could possibly write to its local memory in a second - measured in millions of pixels per second. The figure is worked out by multiplying the amount of colour ROPs by the the core speed of the card. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - sometimes also referred to as Render Output Units) are responsible for outputting the pixels (image) to the screen. The actual pixel output rate is also dependant on many other factors, especially the memory bandwidth of the card - the lower the bandwidth is, the lower the ability to get to the maximum fill rate.
