GeForce GTX 560 Ti vs GeForce GTX 950

Intro

The GeForce GTX 560 Ti has a core clock speed of 822 MHz and a GDDR5 memory frequency of 1002 MHz. It also features a 256-bit memory bus, and makes use of a 40 nm design. It is comprised of 384 SPUs, 64 TAUs, and 32 ROPs.

Compare those specifications to the GeForce GTX 950, which has GPU clock speed of 1024 MHz, and 2048 MB of GDDR5 memory set to run at 1652 MHz through a 128-bit bus. It also features 768 SPUs, 48 Texture Address Units, and 32 ROPs.

GeForce GTX 950 90 Watts
GeForce GTX 560 Ti 170 Watts
Difference: 80 Watts (89%)

Memory Bandwidth

As far as performance goes, the GeForce GTX 560 Ti should theoretically be quite a bit better than the GeForce GTX 950 overall. (explain)

GeForce GTX 560 Ti 128256 MB/sec
GeForce GTX 950 105728 MB/sec
Difference: 22528 (21%)

Texel Rate

The GeForce GTX 560 Ti is a small bit (approximately 7%) faster with regards to AF than the GeForce GTX 950. (explain)

GeForce GTX 560 Ti 52608 Mtexels/sec
GeForce GTX 950 49152 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 3456 (7%)

Pixel Rate

If running with lots of anti-aliasing is important to you, then the GeForce GTX 950 is superior to the GeForce GTX 560 Ti, and very much so. (explain)

GeForce GTX 950 32768 Mpixels/sec
GeForce GTX 560 Ti 26304 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 6464 (25%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Bandwidth is the max amount of information (measured in MB per second) that can be transferred over the external memory interface within a second. The number is worked out by multiplying the bus width by its memory clock speed. If the card has DDR type memory, it must be multiplied by 2 again. If it uses DDR5, multiply by ANOTHER 2x. The higher the card's memory bandwidth, the faster the card will be in general. It especially helps with AA, High Dynamic Range and high resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum number of texture map elements (texels) that can be processed per second. This is worked out by multiplying the total amount of texture units of the card by the core speed of the chip. The better the texel rate, the better the card will be at texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels applied in a second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the maximum amount of pixels that the graphics card can possibly record to the local memory in one second - measured in millions of pixels per second. Pixel rate is calculated by multiplying the number of Render Output Units by the the core speed of the card. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - also sometimes called Render Output Units) are responsible for filling the screen with pixels (the image). The actual pixel output rate is also dependant on many other factors, especially the memory bandwidth of the card - the lower the bandwidth is, the lower the ability to reach the maximum fill rate.
