GeForce GTX 750 Ti vs Geforce GTX 760

Intro

The GeForce GTX 750 Ti comes with core speeds of 1020 MHz on the GPU, and 1350 MHz on the 2048 MB of GDDR5 RAM. It features 640 SPUs along with 40 Texture Address Units and 16 ROPs.

Compare those specs to the Geforce GTX 760, which uses a 28 nm design. nVidia has clocked the core speed at 980 MHz. The GDDR5 memory runs at a speed of 1502 MHz on this particular model. It features 1152 SPUs along with 96 TAUs and 32 ROPs.

Benchmarks

These are real-world performance benchmarks that were submitted by Hardware Compare users. The scores seen here are the average of all benchmarks submitted for each respective test and hardware.

3DMark Fire Strike Graphics Score

Geforce GTX 760 5923 points
GeForce GTX 750 Ti 4562 points
Difference: 1361 (30%)

Power Usage and Theoretical Benchmarks

Power Consumption (Max TDP)

GeForce GTX 750 Ti 60 Watts
Geforce GTX 760 170 Watts
Difference: 110 Watts (183%)

Memory Bandwidth

Theoretically, the Geforce GTX 760 should perform quite a bit faster than the GeForce GTX 750 Ti overall. (explain)

Geforce GTX 760 192256 MB/sec
GeForce GTX 750 Ti 86400 MB/sec
Difference: 105856 (123%)

Texel Rate

The Geforce GTX 760 will be quite a bit (approximately 131%) better at texture filtering than the GeForce GTX 750 Ti. (explain)

Geforce GTX 760 94080 Mtexels/sec
GeForce GTX 750 Ti 40800 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 53280 (131%)

Pixel Rate

If running with lots of anti-aliasing is important to you, then the Geforce GTX 760 is the winner, and very much so. (explain)

Geforce GTX 760 31360 Mpixels/sec
GeForce GTX 750 Ti 16320 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 15040 (92%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Memory bandwidth is the max amount of data (in units of MB per second) that can be moved past the external memory interface in one second. It's calculated by multiplying the bus width by its memory speed. If it uses DDR memory, it must be multiplied by 2 again. If it uses DDR5, multiply by ANOTHER 2x. The higher the bandwidth is, the better the card will be in general. It especially helps with AA, High Dynamic Range and higher screen resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum amount of texture map elements (texels) that can be applied per second. This is calculated by multiplying the total number of texture units by the core clock speed of the chip. The higher this number, the better the card will be at texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels processed in a second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the maximum amount of pixels that the graphics chip can possibly record to the local memory in a second - measured in millions of pixels per second. Pixel rate is worked out by multiplying the amount of Raster Operations Pipelines by the clock speed of the card. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - aka Render Output Units) are responsible for filling the screen with pixels (the image). The actual pixel fill rate is also dependant on many other factors, especially the memory bandwidth - the lower the bandwidth is, the lower the potential to reach the max fill rate.

Anybody notice the huge gap here? I think i'll just wait for the next generation before letting go of my good old 560 ftw... 760 is a bit on the expensive side and 750 ti just does not deliver.

Michael says:

Yes this is a gap of Price and Power consumption

Vladimir says:

GeForce GTX 750 Ti - 60 Watts
Geforce GTX 760 - 170 Watts

MTM says:

If the 760 is too expensive, you can try the R7 265, R9 270, or R9 270X.

jerry says:

I hope geforce will launch a card that is sort of gtx 755 or something like that. 750ti is not strong enough while 760 is overpowered.

Danny says:

With the release of the 900 series, it's just a matter of time before they come out with a 950 or 960 Titanium. Interesting though, I did not see a 760 Titanium in the markets.

EVilQTip I.D says:

I bought a GTX 760 and I must say it Outstanding for a mini card and only a 6 pin version.
It was pulled out of and alienware and the guy upgraded selling it to me.
It's awesome.. Very highly recommended excellent performer.
Brings my old system back to life in games being super smooth again.

To defend the EVGA 750 Ti SC 2G
It play's all the fames fine and as good as the GTX 760.
As long as you ajust a few things like 1366x768 ultra setting on Textures full ! Main priority is tha.
Shadows off and FSAA off and a few things medium that are no necessary your flying.
Great Mini powerful card for a second hand buy!!
If you buy new buy high end and just save like everybody else but if you wanna game now hunt around..
