GeForce GTX 750 vs GeForce GTX 750 Ti

Intro

The GeForce GTX 750 uses a 28 nm design. nVidia has set the core speed at 1020 MHz. The GDDR5 memory is set to run at a frequency of 1250 MHz on this particular card. It features 512 SPUs along with 32 TAUs and 16 ROPs.

Compare all of that to the GeForce GTX 750 Ti, which comes with GPU clock speed of 1020 MHz, and 2048 MB of GDDR5 memory set to run at 1350 MHz through a 128-bit bus. It also features 640 Stream Processors, 40 TAUs, and 16 Raster Operation Units.

Benchmarks

These are real-world performance benchmarks that were submitted by Hardware Compare users. The scores seen here are the average of all benchmarks submitted for each respective test and hardware.

3DMark Fire Strike Graphics Score

GeForce GTX 750 Ti 4562 points
GeForce GTX 750 3958 points
Difference: 604 (15%)

Power Usage and Theoretical Benchmarks

Power Consumption (Max TDP)

GeForce GTX 750 55 Watts
GeForce GTX 750 Ti 60 Watts
Difference: 5 Watts (9%)

Memory Bandwidth

Performance-wise, the GeForce GTX 750 Ti should theoretically be a bit better than the GeForce GTX 750 in general. (explain)

GeForce GTX 750 Ti 86400 MB/sec
GeForce GTX 750 80000 MB/sec
Difference: 6400 (8%)

Texel Rate

The GeForce GTX 750 Ti should be quite a bit (approximately 25%) better at AF than the GeForce GTX 750. (explain)

GeForce GTX 750 Ti 40800 Mtexels/sec
GeForce GTX 750 32640 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 8160 (25%)

Pixel Rate

Both cards have the exact same pixel rate, so theoretically they should perform equally good at at AA, and be able to handle the same screen resolutions. (explain)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Memory bandwidth is the maximum amount of information (measured in MB per second) that can be moved past the external memory interface in a second. It is worked out by multiplying the bus width by the speed of its memory. If the card has DDR memory, it should be multiplied by 2 again. If DDR5, multiply by ANOTHER 2x. The better the bandwidth is, the better the card will be in general. It especially helps with AA, HDR and higher screen resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum texture map elements (texels) that can be processed in one second. This figure is calculated by multiplying the total texture units by the core clock speed of the chip. The better this number, the better the card will be at handling texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels applied in one second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the maximum number of pixels the graphics card can possibly write to its local memory in one second - measured in millions of pixels per second. The number is calculated by multiplying the number of Render Output Units by the the card's clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - also sometimes called Render Output Units) are responsible for filling the screen with pixels (the image). The actual pixel output rate is also dependant on lots of other factors, most notably the memory bandwidth of the card - the lower the bandwidth is, the lower the potential to get to the max fill rate.

Is it worth to buy the Ti Version or not ?

Joshua mulheron says:

Yes, but only if you don't have the gtx 750. Otherwise, you spend $200 for an upgrade thats only 20 watts more.

stefano says:

la Ti me conviene con una fuente de 400 W?

Timbo80 says:

Its 400w minimum needed for the ti, so you'll need to upgrade your PSU if you havent yet...THe GTX750 you might not have to depending on your rig..

Something says:

@Timbo80 i have 280W psu 12 amp and it works fine with it.
