Memory Bandwidth: Bandwidth is the maximum amount of data (counted in MB per second) that can be transported across the external memory interface within a second. It is calculated by multiplying the card's interface width by its memory speed. If the card has DDR RAM, the result should be multiplied by 2 once again. If DDR5, multiply by ANOTHER 2x. The better the card's memory bandwidth, the better the card will be in general. It especially helps with AA, HDR and high resolutions. Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum texture map elements (texels) that can be processed per second. This number is calculated by multiplying the total number of texture units of the card by the core speed of the chip. The higher this number, the better the graphics card will be at handling texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels in a second. Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the maximum amount of pixels that the graphics chip can possibly record to its local memory in one second - measured in millions of pixels per second. The number is calculated by multiplying the number of colour ROPs by the the core clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - also called Render Output Units) are responsible for filling the screen with pixels (the image). The actual pixel output rate is also dependant on lots of other factors, especially the memory bandwidth of the card - the lower the memory bandwidth is, the lower the ability to get to the max fill rate.

One Response to “GeForce 9800 GT 512MB vs GeForce GTX 750”i am going to upgrade from the 9800 GT 512M from XFX (their wierd version that somehow runs without a power connector yet its the regular version rather than the green edition) to an EVGA GTX 750 FTW edition w/ACX cooling. All I can find about it other than newegg is reviews and unboxing etc. for the 750 ti version. maybe since its exclusive to newegg and requires more than zero effort to find, noone else has bought it yet? its on sale for $99.99, so that's why I got it instead of one of the more "regular" GTX 750's (the shorter ones w/out the 6-pin input). Will make unboxing videoas soon as it arrives on the 23rd of the month/year this comment was typed in (December 2014). I seriously hope it includes a molex to 6-pin adapter, my POS dell PSU only has a single 4-pin connector.
