Geforce GTX 760 5923 points
GeForce GTX 660 5063 points
Difference: 860 (17%)

Power Usage and Theoretical Benchmarks

Power Consumption (Max TDP)

GeForce GTX 660 140 Watts
Geforce GTX 760 170 Watts
Difference: 30 Watts (21%)

Memory Bandwidth

The Geforce GTX 760 should in theory be much faster than the GeForce GTX 660 in general. (explain)

Geforce GTX 760 192256 MB/sec
GeForce GTX 660 144192 MB/sec
Difference: 48064 (33%)

Texel Rate

The Geforce GTX 760 should be a bit (more or less 20%) faster with regards to anisotropic filtering than the GeForce GTX 660. (explain)

Geforce GTX 760 94080 Mtexels/sec
GeForce GTX 660 78400 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 15680 (20%)

Pixel Rate

If using a high resolution is important to you, then the Geforce GTX 760 is the winner, and very much so. (explain)

Geforce GTX 760 31360 Mpixels/sec
GeForce GTX 660 23520 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 7840 (33%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Memory bandwidth is the largest amount of information (counted in megabytes per second) that can be transported past the external memory interface in a second. The number is calculated by multiplying the card's interface width by the speed of its memory. If it uses DDR type RAM, the result should be multiplied by 2 again. If it uses DDR5, multiply by 4 instead. The higher the card's memory bandwidth, the better the card will be in general. It especially helps with anti-aliasing, HDR and higher screen resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum texture map elements (texels) that are applied per second. This is worked out by multiplying the total texture units of the card by the core clock speed of the chip. The better this number, the better the card will be at handling texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels applied in a second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the maximum number of pixels that the graphics card can possibly write to the local memory per second - measured in millions of pixels per second. The figure is calculated by multiplying the amount of colour ROPs by the the core clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - sometimes also referred to as Render Output Units) are responsible for outputting the pixels (image) to the screen. The actual pixel rate also depends on many other factors, most notably the memory bandwidth of the card - the lower the memory bandwidth is, the lower the ability to get to the maximum fill rate.

Schaumstoff says:

The gtx 760 is a lot more expensive but I think it is worth it.

Dat guy says:

At current UK prices the 760 is around 30 pounds more expensive than the 660 and I'd be happy to spend that much for the performance gain.

Jessy says:

I shouldv'e gotten this 760. But at the time, I just needed a new GPU when mine was a 610... -_- But I do intend to get a new one soon so we'll see. 🙂

Raj says:

Anybody thinking that 760 will give a performance edge enough to justify the price difference certainly does not knows anything about Graphic Cards

@Raj says:

I think that you don't know anything about graphics cards

KHAWAR ZAMAN says:

192bit can not run more games in 1080p setting. lol

Deus says:

Khawar, you're wrong, the bitrate doesn't influence the resolution as much as the available memory on the card. IE. 192bit 3GB card will render 1080 fine, a 265 1GB card will struggle(example only).

damian says:

i have a gtx 760 a i3 3220 and 6 gb of ram and i can run bf4 maxed

Ravshanbek says:

Hello! Can I play normal GTA 6 and FIFA 19 ? My PC is: Intel core i3-7100 3,90GHz, Ram: 8 GB, Nvidia GeForce GTX 760 (2 BG, 256 Bit ). Can you answer me please?
