Memory Bandwidth

As far as performance goes, the Geforce GTX 780 should theoretically be a lot superior to the Geforce GTX 770 overall. (explain)

Geforce GTX 780 288384 MB/sec
Geforce GTX 770 224384 MB/sec
Difference: 64000 (29%)

Texel Rate

The Geforce GTX 780 is a lot (more or less 24%) better at texture filtering than the Geforce GTX 770. (explain)

Geforce GTX 780 165696 Mtexels/sec
Geforce GTX 770 133888 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 31808 (24%)

Pixel Rate

If running with a high screen resolution is important to you, then the Geforce GTX 780 is a better choice, and very much so. (explain)

Geforce GTX 780 41424 Mpixels/sec
Geforce GTX 770 33472 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 7952 (24%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Bandwidth is the max amount of information (counted in MB per second) that can be transferred past the external memory interface within a second. The number is calculated by multiplying the interface width by its memory clock speed. If the card has DDR type RAM, it should be multiplied by 2 once again. If it uses DDR5, multiply by ANOTHER 2x. The better the memory bandwidth, the better the card will be in general. It especially helps with anti-aliasing, HDR and higher screen resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum texture map elements (texels) that are processed per second. This figure is worked out by multiplying the total number of texture units by the core clock speed of the chip. The higher the texel rate, the better the video card will be at texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels per second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the maximum number of pixels the video card can possibly record to its local memory per second - measured in millions of pixels per second. The number is calculated by multiplying the number of colour ROPs by the the core clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - sometimes also referred to as Render Output Units) are responsible for drawing the pixels (image) on the screen. The actual pixel output rate also depends on many other factors, especially the memory bandwidth - the lower the memory bandwidth is, the lower the potential to reach the maximum fill rate.

the 780 is shit, GG

sonarctica says:

GG, worst reason ever, i bet you are a AMD sheep and that's the reason why complain for nothing.

sheep says:

GG, you don't know sheep about it 780 is a titan killer

IT says:

Huge mistake in the page. thermal design power (TDP) is not power consumption is heat generated by the device.

IT says:

If you want to learn about TDP, I would recommend Linus Fast as possible videos.
