3DMark Fire Strike Graphics Score
Power Usage and Theoretical BenchmarksPower Consumption (Max TDP)
Memory BandwidthAs far as performance goes, the Radeon HD 7990 should theoretically be a lot better than the Geforce GTX 690 overall. (explain)
Texel RateThe Radeon HD 7990 should be a little bit (about 4%) faster with regards to AF than the Geforce GTX 690. (explain)
Pixel RateThe Radeon HD 7990 will be just a bit (approximately 4%) better at AA than the Geforce GTX 690, and capable of handling higher resolutions more effectively. (explain)
Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit. One or more cards in this comparison are multi-core. This means that their bandwidth, texel and pixel rates are theoretically doubled - this does not mean the card will actually perform twice as fast, but only that it should in theory be able to. Actual game benchmarks will give a more accurate idea of what it's capable of. Price Comparison

Memory Bandwidth: Memory bandwidth is the max amount of information (measured in megabytes per second) that can be transported past the external memory interface in one second. It is calculated by multiplying the card's interface width by its memory speed. If it uses DDR memory, it should be multiplied by 2 once again. If DDR5, multiply by 4 instead. The better the card's memory bandwidth, the faster the card will be in general. It especially helps with AA, High Dynamic Range and higher screen resolutions. Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum amount of texture map elements (texels) that are applied in one second. This is calculated by multiplying the total amount of texture units by the core clock speed of the chip. The higher the texel rate, the better the video card will be at texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels applied in a second. Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the most pixels the video card can possibly record to its local memory in one second - measured in millions of pixels per second. Pixel rate is worked out by multiplying the amount of ROPs by the the card's clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - aka Render Output Units) are responsible for filling the screen with pixels (the image). The actual pixel rate is also dependant on lots of other factors, most notably the memory bandwidth of the card - the lower the bandwidth is, the lower the potential to reach the maximum fill rate.

monster vga card
AMD always lose some months later the geforce GTX 790 will come and kick the ass of the AMD
The the 8990 will kick its ass
@anthony fanboys fanboys everywhere
The AMD 7990 should be compared to the future GTX 790 since they are the two brands newest chips.... gtx 690 should be compared to 6990 and 7990 should and will be compared to gtx 790.. which in turn.. WILL destroy the 7990.
@MaxiThePlaye STFU !
@ anthony Go fuck yourself
@Ersa, the timeline gap between video the highest end GPUs for AMD & Nv are 1 year apart (except for 7990 and 790 where the difference would be just a few months, most probably). It's plausible they are in the same generation, BUT more reasonable comparison is by price due to this 1-year-technological-handicap. It's rational. Because AMD is manufacturing low-cost GPUs with High End Performances. No one expects a 7990 to beat the Titan or 790 in performance wise.
Compare this with the upcoming gtx titan ultra 😛
When GTX 790 comes we'll see amd fanboys cries, cause NVIDIA gonna kick AMD's ass so hard!!!!
@Patrick .. you dumb mick, and you suppose that ATi won't follow suit with a new generation of GPU's like, say .. an AMD Radeon 8000 Series?!? Anyone can play the childish fanboy game, but at this high-end level, who would turn their nose up at either the 690 or 7990? I mean, really?? Say it again, each time you're looking in a mirror (just to daily remind yourself), "Patrick is an idiot." .!.
Guys Stop being fanboys and saying when the "insert Nvidia card here" comes out it will kick its ass, because AMD & Nvidia are always I will repeat always leapfroging each other when Nvidia releases the next one months later AMD releases theirs and so on so on.
Did anyone else notice that the majority of these posts are AM? Thought that would be relevant to the Fanboy going on in here. Seriously go argue about how your is greater than again.
I like both card to be honest.
You guys realize this is exactly what AMD&Nvidia want you to do. That's why they are in "competition" so that you fanatics go crazy buying all the latest 1000video cards enabling those assholes to sit on-top of their mountains of capital.
This is a cycle that will never end, it is perpetual.
'Logic' said a vary good logical word. Competition will never end. But I can add another word. By their cards Microsoft is also sit on-top of their mountains of capital. Seriously why we use MS windows? More then 85% gaming for sure. Linux or other free os can do all we want without much problems.
And I think GPU providers also should start lowering Max TDP. this year AMD at 375W. Maybe next year AMD/Nvidea will come at 400W. FCC should make a rule to keep them in 250W or less. Like F1 race cars has engine rules. (I dont know if there is any FCC rules about it. I am not a lawyer).
Nigga nigga nigga, you're 100% nigga
The best card is the built in integrated one. I have it and its better than all these cards put together. It can play minesweeper on lowest settings at 3 fps!
I'm no fanboy of nvidia or amd, but honestly in these years i seen amd doing big steps both in cpu and graphic cards, especially in creating best price/performance products that gives us players to get a more than decent computer with low budged. And this is way more appealing that going to spend twice the money for intel cpu's and nvidia g/c wich it's not needed since a system that can keep a game above 50 fps on a game is already efficent for us (an human eye can see fluently objects from about 30-40fps).
Therefore i'd see that this marketing strategy of AMD of giving high performances for every wallet will makes them in future the leading company in home and business computing (especially in these harsh times for world economy).
Id like to point out that at no point has any one mentioned cooling and hence noise. I had an amd cpu for 3-4 years and it ran hot so the cpu fan ran high under medium loads and was unbearable for longer periods id imagine the gpus are the same
Compare the present things. Why u fucker gng to the future editions. AMD rocks... AMD Rules.....
Later we can see...
AMD will compete with your future fucking Nvidia gtx 790 with our GOD AMD Radeon HD 8990!!!!!!
Fuck yourself you all Nvidia idiots...
Comeon AMD fans...
Nigga nigga nigga, im 100% nigga
7990 FTW! still green team can`t touch it for single card solution
I'm not a fanboy but , compare what you can compare , seriously. Nvidia cards makes way less noise and are way cooler than the ATI ones and you can't compare a 'old' card to a 'new' card , it's like comparing SNES and Playstation 2 x_x
Nvidia come with the new K1 which is in the next Shield , it's a
*fucking keyboard* monster , 10W TDP and you can run Unreal Engine 4 beta in medium on a phone , and as we can see with the low price of the Shield , it isn't even expansive , if Nvidia integrate this technology in his new G/C , well it will be absolutely AWESOME : strong , cold , tiny , low cost , ect , there's NO WAY they won't do that ! I hope ATI will find an equivalent tech of course but wait until the next gen of graphic card , I think it will be a clash of Titans 8D
To the ones who say the 790 will kick its ass jeep in mind AMDs next solution 8990 or R9-300 whatever it will be. Will kick 790s ass. Its just a game of leap frog ladies and gents. I love Blue Green and Red quit fighting its just preference. Whether its Intel's Igpus Nvidias GeForce or AMDs Radeon. It's all preference.
If you have the competence to compare a currently available 7990 with an 'upcoming' Titan ultra, let's pull out the R9 295X2 shall we?
The 2x295 benmarkins are better than the titan z
and r9 295x2 is way cheaper
