Compare any two graphics cards:
Geforce GTX 780 vs Radeon HD 7970
IntroThe Geforce GTX 780 uses a 28 nm design. nVidia has set the core frequency at 863 MHz. The GDDR5 memory works at a speed of 1502 MHz on this specific model. It features 2304 SPUs along with 192 TAUs and 48 Rasterization Operator Units.Compare those specifications to the Radeon HD 7970, which has a core clock speed of 925 MHz and a GDDR5 memory frequency of 1375 MHz. It also makes use of a 384-bit memory bus, and uses a 28 nm design. It features 2048 SPUs, 128 Texture Address Units, and 32 Raster Operation Units.

Power Usage and Theoretical BenchmarksBoth cards have the same power consumption.Memory BandwidthAs far as performance goes, the Geforce GTX 780 should theoretically be a small bit superior to the Radeon HD 7970 in general. (explain)
Texel RateThe Geforce GTX 780 will be quite a bit (approximately 40%) better at texture filtering than the Radeon HD 7970. (explain)
Pixel RateIf running with a high resolution is important to you, then the Geforce GTX 780 is superior to the Radeon HD 7970, and very much so. (explain)
Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit. Price Comparison

Memory Bandwidth: Memory bandwidth is the largest amount of information (measured in MB per second) that can be transported across the external memory interface in one second. It's worked out by multiplying the bus width by its memory speed. If it uses DDR memory, it must be multiplied by 2 once again. If it uses DDR5, multiply by ANOTHER 2x. The higher the bandwidth is, the better the card will be in general. It especially helps with anti-aliasing, High Dynamic Range and high resolutions. Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum amount of texture map elements (texels) that can be applied in one second. This is calculated by multiplying the total number of texture units of the card by the core clock speed of the chip. The higher the texel rate, the better the card will be at texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels processed per second. Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the most pixels that the graphics chip could possibly record to the local memory in one second - measured in millions of pixels per second. The figure is calculated by multiplying the number of Render Output Units by the the card's clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - aka Render Output Units) are responsible for filling the screen with pixels (the image). The actual pixel fill rate also depends on lots of other factors, especially the memory bandwidth - the lower the memory bandwidth is, the lower the potential to reach the max fill rate.

have 2 7970's. Sapphire dual-x. See no reason to upgrade in the next few years. Donald Trump will have left office by then even if he does 2 terms.
