Compare any two graphics cards:
Geforce GTX 680 vs Radeon HD 7970
IntroThe Geforce GTX 680 uses a 28 nm design. nVidia has clocked the core frequency at 1006 MHz. The GDDR5 RAM works at a speed of 1502 MHz on this card. It features 1536 SPUs along with 128 TAUs and 32 Rasterization Operator Units.Compare all that to the Radeon HD 7970, which comes with GPU core speed of 925 MHz, and 3072 MB of GDDR5 memory running at 1375 MHz through a 384-bit bus. It also is comprised of 2048 SPUs, 128 Texture Address Units, and 32 ROPs.

Power Usage and Theoretical BenchmarksPower Consumption (Max TDP)
Memory BandwidthIn theory, the Radeon HD 7970 should perform a lot faster than the Geforce GTX 680 overall. (explain)
Texel RateThe Geforce GTX 680 will be just a bit (more or less 9%) more effective at anisotropic filtering than the Radeon HD 7970. (explain)
Pixel RateThe Geforce GTX 680 should be a small bit (about 9%) faster with regards to full screen anti-aliasing than the Radeon HD 7970, and also should be capable of handling higher screen resolutions while still performing well. (explain)
Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit. Price Comparison

Display Specifications
Memory Bandwidth: Bandwidth is the largest amount of data (in units of MB per second) that can be transported past the external memory interface in one second. It's calculated by multiplying the interface width by its memory clock speed. If the card has DDR type RAM, the result should be multiplied by 2 again. If it uses DDR5, multiply by 4 instead. The better the bandwidth is, the better the card will be in general. It especially helps with anti-aliasing, High Dynamic Range and higher screen resolutions. Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum number of texture map elements (texels) that can be applied in one second. This figure is worked out by multiplying the total texture units by the core speed of the chip. The better the texel rate, the better the card will be at handling texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels processed per second. Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the most pixels that the graphics card can possibly record to its local memory in one second - measured in millions of pixels per second. The number is worked out by multiplying the number of colour ROPs by the the core clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - also sometimes called Render Output Units) are responsible for drawing the pixels (image) on the screen. The actual pixel output rate also depends on quite a few other factors, especially the memory bandwidth - the lower the bandwidth is, the lower the ability to get to the max fill rate.

I have The Radeon 7970 Sapphire Edition. In my opnion it's best graphic Card EVER.And if you download the new latest Beta Drivers.the FRAMS will be getting going Higher. And The 7970 is also Faster than GTX 680.So if someone is the FAN of AMD They can go for The 7970.And if someone is the FAN of Nvidia they can go for 680!both Cards are Awesome. And they dont have too much Difference too.!!So Personaly I LIKE RADEON 7970 HD.I LOVE IT.

Did you see the GTX 690?
"Did you see the GTX 690?"
Did you see the cost of the gtx690?
Still GTX 690 is easily best because of its dual gpu. Also, when HD 7990 comes out GTX 690's price should drop by quite a bit. By how much it depends on how good HD 7990 will be in comparison to GTX 690.
The 680 beats the hd7970 needs 55 more watts and according to this is beats it 2 out of 3. Nvidia FTW
what about physics ?
New amd drivers change the game i just bought a hd7970 for 380$
Aha compare last and last
GeForce GTX 690 and Radeon 7970
well to be honest i have look all over the internet i belive the 7970 ghz edition is the best. The test here only shows 925 mhz model i have the 1010 ghz 5500 ghz mem MSI model . i belive it beats the 680 on price bench marks ok not all but most on directX 10 and 11 ok 680 wins on directX 9 but who cars out old games want sim frame rates and save money i say nomore paid £310 7970 £400 680
Why would you compare the 690 and the 7970??? The 690 is a dual two 680's on one card...the 680 vs the 7970 is the comparison that matters. Compare the GTX 690 to the HD 7990...
benchmarks suggest the cards are very even, which is better depends on the game.
Maybe the edge the 7970 has on paper is made up for by the overall better quality and support nvidia drivers offer.
The tie breaker for me is power usage - the GTX680 wins.
I got a 7970 Ghz Edition which beats the 680, for only $170. I'm happy 🙂
